Reports say they're going to waive him the moment they sign him...

I hope they keep him and I wish him the best. He has one of the bigger hearts in the league. Hope to god he does not sign with the cHeat.

I'm also curious about this.  I gotta believe that the new collective bargaining agreement would have some rule that would forbid the Cs from resigning Moore.  Stern hated the old trades where an expiring contract would get traded, immediately cut, and then would run back to his old team.  I realize Moore had a non-guaranteed contract but I'd be very surprised to see him in Green again.  With his strong summer league performance I bet he'll get a shot somewhere else.

It does.

I'm sure he'll end up like his previous incarnation Gabe Pruitt, on another team for a while before bouncing out of the league altogether.

We can't get Moore until next offseason. But if I were Houston, I'd keep him. I think he's contract should be guaranteed at the moment.

I think it is a little different with non-guaranteed contracts.  The rule was created to keep teams from trading players to make salaries match knowing that the player would be released and allowed to return.  In this instance, the player is on a non-guaranteed deal and not receiving a buyout therefore the league would be preventing him the ability to earn an income if the Celtics were the only interested party.  If nothing else it could be a special case for the NBPA but I don't think the Celtics would bring back Moore with Terry and Bradley already filling the role of undersized 2 guards with limited pg skills.

I like Moore because he was our draft pick but there is at least a dozen guys that do what he does for the same price.

His contract becomes guaranteed on Sunday. Hence the talk they're cutting him right away.

I'm still curious whether that new rule about not being able to re-sign traded players for 12 months would apply here, since it wasn't a buyout, it was waiving a player with a non-guaranteed deal.

Although it also seems that Moore has shown enough where SOMEONE should put in a waiver claim for him, right?  I think Moore has shown that he can play a little, and he'd be cheap; why wouldn't someone else put in a waiver claim on him, to fill in the back end of their roster?

E'twaun has a fire to him, I didn't see in the Pruitts and Giddens' and Reeds.

I feel he'll have  a career in the NBA. Idk how much he'll contribute, but it depends on the minutes he gets this season.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

It doesn't matter. The rule states you cannot resign players you traded away in the same season.

If Houston cuts Moore, one NBA team will sign him for the season.  His SL play has been most impressive, with the Cs playing the most organized ball this summer and Moore running the team at the point.

Unless he can find a team where he's going to play real minutes, Moore should go back to Europe and play strictly as a PG for a season or two.  Then come back to the NBA and try to carve out a role as a second PG in a team's rotation.

Not so, in this case, maybe.  The rule states you cannot sign players you traded away for one year or "until the end of the contract."  Since this is a non-guaranteed deal, the Rockets wouldn't be technically waiving him, they would just be ending the contract.

I think.

I'd love to see E'twaun Moore go back to Europe and develop his game in the mold of a poor man's JC Navarro ... and then decide whether or not he wants to return to the NBA (as a rotation caliber player, likely end of rotation - 8th or 9th man type).

Wish I could help, but unfortunately what the CBA says isn't the rule and I can't find the actual rule anywhere.

This really isn't the same situation as Ilgaskus and Stackhouse so I'm not sure it applies as some reporters have suggested.  E'Twan Moore isn't being bought out, his contract is ending.  A player whose contract expires should be free to sign wherever he wants.  I can't find a real "rule" about it anywhere though.  If I were Moore I'd file a claim with the player's association.
