Smart man.  IP is the shrewdest trader in the CB-NBA.

I'd take Westbrook over Griffin, Irving, Davis..there isn't a young guy I'd trade him for straight uP in the league probably, aside from.Lebron or Durant.

*Taking off GM hat*.

I would take Irving over Westbrook at this point.  I'd probably take Westbrook over Griffin, although it's close.  I have no idea what to think of Davis.

To defend this position:

Right now, at age 19, Irving scores 2 points less per 36 minutes than Westbrook.  He rebounds at about the same rate, and averages more assists per minute.  He is significantly more efficient, and he seems to have better instincts than Westbrook.

Irving's rookie year was much better than Westbrook's, and it's fair to assume that he will continue to improve.  In a year or two, Irving could very well be a top ten player.

I had fond memories of the McRib, but I had one not too long ago, and I thought it was borderline disgusting.  So disappointed.

This I agree with but this is a one year endeavor and right now Westbrook is not only the better player, he's better in the important area, winning and playoff experience.

In a few years, I could see where Irving might be the better player but his defense will need to get significantly better as Westbrook has him there pretty easily right now.

No question I take Russell over Irving. He imposes his will on a defense like few in the league. His explosion and athleticism make him better right now. He constantly keeps defenses on their heels. I do not believe this to be true about Irving right now.

Westbrook frustrates me.  He had some amazing playoff performances, but he's also the type of guy that would freeze out the second best player in the game from time to time.  It just blows my mind that he couldn't put his ego aside to feed Durant as much as he should have.

totally agree with Nick's assessment.

(and until I see the PM of Dallas turning down a Irving-Westbrook swap....  8))

It's kind of the same reason (c. 2001-03) it used to bother me that the consensus/conventional wisdom was that TMac > Pierce.

TMac mighta had slightly better stats & upside, but Pierce was the best player on a team that went deep in the playoffs --- even if he has less flash.
