Just to get this out there, now is the best time to get a trade through with the commish.

Tomorrow, there is swimming in the morning, a kids concert around lunch time and "Goldiebear and the three locks" in the afternoon.  I still use a dumb phone.

I make no promises about getting trade passed during the round.

Sounds like you will be having a lot of fun tomorrow.

It amazes me the number of parents that have those smartphones out now days while 'watching' their kids in public places.

See, now we're getting lessons in NBA History no one cares about.

No worries. Roy is good and I enjoy this aspect of the game. The manipulation, the debate, the competition. It's all good stuff, but I have said my piece. Moving on.

If anyone wants to talk any kind of trades for players or picks I will be in the chat.

TP to Roy, IP, and KC.

What have you done for me lately?

Bynum played in 60 of 66 games this past season. Three he missed due to suspension.

In the four seasons preceding last year, Bynum missed an average of 31 games per season, and never missed fewer than 17.  The dude has historically been chronically injured.  Obviously, the "what have you done for me lately" card is the only one you can play, but it's more likely than not that Bynum will miss serious time next year.

No, it's not more likely than not. If anything he showed this past season that he has strengthened the knee and found the proper brace to put his issues behind him. Sure anyone can have issues but at this point in time Bynum has showed more then Curry has that he will be entering next season at full strength.

Let's put it this way:  I think the track record for guards who miss half a season with relatively minor injuries is better than that of big men who miss serious time in four consecutive seasons with knee and leg issues.

If people are considering Curry to be a huge injury risk, and Bynum to be proven healthy, I'm not sure they have a proper appreciation of NBA history.  From Walton to Bowie to Bynum to Oden, when big men have serious injuries early and often, they generally don't go on to stellar careers.

See, now we're getting lessons in NBA History no one cares about.

A lesson in "history" involving 4 players, 2 who of whom are still active.   ;)

I'd argue for every big man like Walton, Bowie, Bynum, and Oden, there is a wing like T-Mac, Grant Hill, Steph Curry*, and  Brandon Roy.

(*see what i did there with using the player in question as evidence of history)

Here's my thoughts on Curry -

In this draft, it was a poor pick. You start with Lebron, people are going to want an excuse to vote against you. Selecting Steph Curry and his ankles put blood in the water.

Midseason, end of season awards it could pay off, but in my opinion this opens up the door a little for other teams to get in. I think there was much safer picks out there.

This I agree with, except to say that Lebron's stock has never been higher. So finding a potentially great fit next to him there was a bold choice, especially since they didn't trade out.

Someone should do 'winners' and 'losers' through the first 2 rounds.

I'll take it a step further. Fun thought excerise. Send me your East and West rankings for teams through the first two rounds. Let's find out how much Rounds 3 through 13 matter.

I'd take 80% the fit and 80% the talent next to Lebron if I was more certain about his health.

There was another guy who I thought fit wise was a better match. But still, even at the PG slot I think there were safer picks.

On one hand I want to say that I applaud Edgar/Roy for going big and going bold, but on the other hand I feel like these two know the format better and should've played it safer.

And to be fair to those who do bring up the health concerns there was a reason that he was available there.

I don't know. Injury risks are the most subjective factor in an already very subjective game. I recall my frustration in trying to convince you of the folly of a first time GM who'd built his Knicks team around Greg Oden coming off a 21 game season. That guy didn't even bother to do a presser and finished with a top 5 seed.

It's the 82 game Yao Ming argument and it's wildly unpredictable. But it can pay off in a big way.

I still can't finish the below trade.

11)  Lakers send: Marc Gasol, 4.21, 7.1 to the
OKC Thunder  for: 2.16 3.16 6.16

KC knows everything then he should know where the Lakers acquired the 7.1?

I almost feel like certain players should just be kept out of the game to promote more basketball discussion and less meaningless (will he vs. won't he get play when absolutely anything could happen and nobody has a clue).  I almost feel like a ruling made on a certain player in this draft would really making things more about the sport of basketball in discussions.

perhaps it's a typo and should be 7.4?

that would be their pick but it's missing from StartOrien's sig...

Yeah, that was my thought too -- a typo -- I was thinking 7.10 to 7.19 though. Something in the teens. A digit that was dropped off the mark.
