I thought Gay and LeBron would have been a terrific combo.

Either in a big power lineup with both at the wings and create size mismatches on the wing.

Or, more likely in a small quick lineup with both at forward - Rudy Gay at SF and LeBron James at PF. Force slower opponent forwards to cover one of those freakishly athletic + highly talented shot-creators. Run teams right off the court. Lots of floor spacing.

>I thought that too
but curry is now very close to wade and probably will be better next year
and his abilit to shoot complements bronnie who can also play better the 4 than the 3

so team usa aside I rather pick Curry

I dunno bout all that...

Sick of waiting. ;)

well the UBUNTU thing to do would be to say so, THEN (as a mod) suggest Big Al the Future make his/Riah's 2.22 pick THEN make your selection...

We waited an hour.  The rule has always been that anybody can jump you at any time when your time is up.  We heard through the grape vine who BigAl was taking.  If we wanted to be truly cut throat, we would have drafted Gay and ransomed him.  Instead, we just took our guy, which we knew wouldn't screw Big Al, but which also protected us from getting jumped.

As you yourself said, people need to make sure that their submitted trades are accurate.  If we had gotten skipped, I'm pretty sure nobody would have been giving us compensation picks this time around.  Plus, I'm going to have limited availability tonight, and wanted to put the pick to rest.

We (or I) tried to balance courtesy while protecting ourselves.  I don't see anything that isn't "UBUNTU" about that.

Who was going to jump you when you had the last pick in the round?
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Two very strong picks to finish out the round.

Excellent value picks for late in the 2nd round. I love the fit between Curry + LeBron. Similar to Irving/Wade only better. Not wild about Gay with Nash/K-Love but Gay is tremendous value late in the 2nd round.

Yeah, I'm surprised a guy as talented as Gay slipped so far.  He's a borderline first round, definitely early second round talent.

Acutally Roy, that may have been the rule in the past, but you're wrong.... it's SIMPLY NOT this year --- as I posted when Evantime did the same thing earlier in the round:

5) If you miss a pick in the first two rounds the Commissioner will pick the best player available at his discretion and begin actively searching for a new GM for the team. You may contact the Commish and petition to remain in the game. In the event that a replacement owner cannot be found, the Commissioner will take over drafting duties until one is found.

If you miss a pick in the 3rd through 13th rounds you will be passed over and others may pick ahead of you. If at the end of the round you still haven't made your selection the Commish will again select the best player available at his discretion and a new GM will be found for your team. You may petition to resume your role as GM of your team.

I understand you were antsy and might have had limited access this evening... but i just think it's everyone's responsiblity to look out for the game.

And yes if you'd been skipped I would have said the same thing.

Whatever the picks got made....

Just my 2 cents:

I think Gainesville might be misinterpreting the rules regarding the first two rounds.

I think as long as your time is up you can be skipped. Missing a pick means being skipped and not showing up for the pick therefore, so as not to penalize the franchise, the commish, when he feels like he has given you enough time to show and pick, will then pick BPA for you and the proper warnings regarding being replaced go into effect.

In the 3rd through 13th rounds you get skipped without getting BPA assigned and then the commish can do his possibly replacing you thing.

Anyone can pick so long as another person's time is up. Its just in the first two rounds, the commish will assign a BPA.

That's my interpretation. If its wrong, perhaps the commish can clarify. So in my interpretation Evantime and the CrotorNats were fine doing what they did.

I had curry pegged as a 4th rounder, great talent but e injuries scare me.  First to second round talent though. And if he is going to be healthy for training camp that's a good way to start things off

Round 2 Analysis

Best Picks:
  • Rudy Gay (great talent)
  • Joe Johnson (excellent scorer, great fit with Dwight)
  • Great stretch of picks 8-15 are all guys I would have ranked over at least 3 players drafted in the first round (Big Al, Davis, Monroe)
  • Noah (fairly comparable to all the other centers drafted and was taken at the end of the round)

Reaches:
  • Faried (could be had later... reminds me of what Jay Bilas said when the Knicks drafted Renaldo Balkman that he 'absolutely would have been available to them at their next pick')
  • Eric Gordon (injury prone? another comparable SG still on the board)
  • Milsap (still other comparable PF on the board, taken very shoftly after considerably better PFs)
  • Chandler (was pretty mediocre as a pairing with CP, dunno if I see being beyond mediocre as 2nd best player alongside TP)

Enjoy!

I've got him pegged as early 3rd for the same reasons you mentioned.  Those ankles really worry me.

With Lebron, you don't need upside, I think a sure thing would have been the better move and there were some sure things still available.  But I could see how going with the "sure thing" approach around Lebron could be a little boring.
