just my 2 cents... there's starting low and there's starting comically low.
If i'm motivated i'll work with the former; I'll usually not spend the time trying to move a comically low offer up to simply-low. Or I'll say, truthfully --- "I don't see something that makes sense between us..."
I'm not naming names -- speaking generally here about offers i got on 2.5 lsat night --- but there are still all-stars/all-nba caliber players on the board so a 4th (or probably even a 3rd unless ONE is sending a farm along with it) just isn't enough for 99% of the GMs here, or at least this GM who's a 99%er.
FWIW, I think the modified snake has a lot to do with the difficulty in putting together equal/fair trades early in the CBD ---- whether that's a good or bad thing, who knows, but i do think it's the case (I know i've had a harder time putting together something that works for me AND the other team).

A MEA CULPA:
Lest anyone, after my quibbling about traded picks yesterday, thinks *i* think my, uh, Ubuntu don't stink, I sent a trade into the commish last night where i transposed the 10th rounder i was sending out, with the 10th rounder I was getting back.
