I just find it hilarious that people would rather have Ryan Hollins at the min than Blanche its laughable.

Who cares if he said he was soft (what was the quote)

There are 100's of guys in the league that are soft, at least he has some skills and talent. Oooohh because he mentioned it interview once he's off limits?

Other teams passed on him? Is this a joke? This is really a reason? Let's just base all our scouting reports and evaluations based off of what other teams do.
The dude got sent home from his team, spent his time promoting strip clubs, and now is tweeting about it all in a mocking tone.

I don't see him fitting with the C's or getting playing time. Plus his ego isn't going to allow him to take the minimum.

Ever see big baby or Starbury on Ustream?  Can't be worse//weirder than that.

Isn't it kind of ironic that a guy like big baby (im sure people deny it now) was a fan favorite and was a significant member for a few years on our team?

I mean are those guys that far off? I could easily see similar situations happen if there roles were reversed. Only difference is Blanche has a lot more talent.

I mean I would never even think of signing blatch to a long term deal or any significant money. I don't like him and I don't think he is a star or anything but I mean if it's the vet min and its either jajuan johnson, Ryan Hollins, or Sean Williams I at least have to pick blatche by default even if I don't like him.

Unless danny believed in jinxes (which seems like a lot of people here do) I don't see how danny passes on him if he pretty much falls on his lap

Not even close.  Davis cared about his game.  He put up meaningful stats in his career.

Davis learned to play team defense.

Blatche refused.

no thanks, not even at the minimum
What you're not looking at is the potential for a joint venture Blatche/CBlog strip club night!  ::)

I know that Blatche is a knucklehead, but is he a cancer? It seems like virtually everyone who played in Washington during the last several seasons was some type of "problem" player, but I really wonder if that's more because of the terrible environment with the Wizards and less because of the players. In other words, if placed in a stable, disciplined environment (such as Boston), could a guy such as Blatche become a productive, nonharmful member of basketball society? In particular, when you consider the dearth of skilled big men, or even of guys who are just plain big, it seems almost foolish to pass on a skilled 6-11 player who could really shore up your team's front line and may come at the vet min. Is he really that bad?

Huh? This is a team that took a chance on Starbury, and we wouldn't consider him for the league minimum? I want this guy yesterday. Put him next to KG and see if he gets out of line. Blatche single-handily beat the C's in a regular season game less than 3 years ago. Do you remember that game? I do.

Unless he signs for $40 mil dollars, you can't compare him to Mark Blount.  If Blount made the minimum, we'd have all forgotten him long ago.  If Blatche comes for the minimum and doens't contribute, he'll be utterly forgettable.

They prefer playing it sage rather than taking risks. Some people would rather have a gimpy Leon power back than Blatxhe.

I advocate embracing risk, but I would rather take a risk on trying to find the best D-League big than gambling on Blatche.

Huh? What do you mean its not close? Have you seen his Ustream videos? What about him breaking his hand punching one if his friends? How about the "I have no idea what my roll on the team is" comment after being on the team for years?

So do you not think that if Baby was drafted by DC and Blatche drafted by the Celtics that they may be on very different situations at all?

You don't think coaches or the environment that you conduct your work in would affect results at all?

You just automatically assume Baby would have been a team player and bought into the Wizards defense? Just seems like a bit of a narrow approach.

Well the idea is that Blatche is low risk high reward. We've seen him be pretty effective and has a lot of talent.

D-leaguers certainly are low risk but there usually is little potential in a high reward.

I am all for this, and agree with the point that had this guy been drafted by the C's, his past would be different. Winning cures a lot of problems.

We are hurting for height (6'11"), can always stand to have younger athletic legs (yup) and someone who can score inside and out.

If he's a distraction in training camp.. . bye bye.

The one question is can the Celtics stop this guy from being a poison in the locker room? They weren't able to stop Big Baby from being immature and a horrible team player. Blatche has an even worse track record than Baby. If Blatche swears he can keep himself under control than I say do it. He brings a presence on the interior and great post moves. Not to mention he can rebound the ball pretty darn well. I say do it if Blatche wants to show he can fit in the Celtics' way.

Take him in an instant if we can.

The guy's got talent. Also aware that he's Bynum + Howard combined in terms of attitude, that's for sure. I'm all for power and contribution in the end.

Washington is just coincidentally a bad place for him, Arenas, McGee, etc.

People debating whether to get him for the Vet Min are ridiculous. Yes he has his issues, but for the Vet Min there is no way you regret signing him (Unless he pulls an Arenas). You don't get players of his talent level for VM unless you are Miami or LA.

I think one lesson from this past season is that sometimes it is better to take the lesser player who is a better fit for team chemistry.

I would be reluctant to give Blatche a fully guaranteed contract, even if it is for the minimum.  I'd only be willing to sign him if I thought he would be useful even if his mentality doesn't change.

I would take Blatche, the guy is now scrub. He's a head-case, but not a scrub.
