Maybe Orlando really likes Waiters.  He looks like Marcus Thornton to me.

I'm fairly sure that Waiters has already signed his contract, which means he can't be traded until mid-Decemberish.

Yes, he did sign a contract, so he's not tradeable until Dec 15.

Ahhh, gotcha.

So that leaves Tristan Thompson, Omri Casspi and future picks to pair with Varejao.

Houston should be able to beat that, no?

This trade works

Cavs get - Bynum, Richardson
Lakers get - Howard, Davis
Magic get - Varejao, McRoberts, Eyenga, Goudelock

Obviously Orlando would also get a ton of picks from the Cavs (and maybe some second rounders from LA, whichever ones aren't going to Phoenix as they picked up quite a few recently).

Not really sure how that package is better than what Houston would offer nor better than taking a risk on Bynum, but to each his own.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Depends on what the Magic think of Tristan Thompson.

Forgive me, you're absolutely right, IP. 30 days for draft picks.

Apparently 30 days it is.  Still, I have a feeling that this trade will happen before mid-August, should it happen.

This whole rumor just doesn't seem to pass the sniff test.

Seems odd to me as well.  Now if there is a mystery 4th team that would take Varejao and send some young pieces to Orlando that might make more sense i.e. Orlando still gets a bunch of picks from Cleveland, but gets some prospects from some other team that wants Varejao (like say he goes to Minnesota and Williams goes to Orlando - or something like that).

Andrew Bynum OK w/Cavs, & Lakers believe Dwight Howard eventually would be OK w/them. But lots of bad contracts have to be moved for deal.

Id rather dwight go to the lakers than the nets. He would at least be out of the east leaving miami as the only true threats to us as long as rose is hobbled. We won't have to worry about the lakers unless we both make it to the finals and really, i wouldn't have it any other way.

Or if the Cavs send more than picks that are likely to be lower with Bynum in the fold, some of the young talent they have currently on the squad.

Yeah, but I don't see why Cleveland does it.  They can't move Zeller or Waiters which realistically just leaves Thompson.  I know Bynum is way better than Thompson, but is Bynum better than Varejao, Thompson, and 4 firsts (or whatever).  That I'm not sure of.  Thompson showed a lot of promise as a rookie and the Cavs have him locked up for awhile on a rookie deal.  I don't think they include him.  Now if Orlando wanted Casspi, Samuels, Harangody, or even Boobie Gibson, then sure, but if it is Thompson, I don't think Cleveland does it.

SamAmico is the wikipedia of trade rumors. He's right sometimes, but its hardly a prerequisite.

Unfortunately this looks like it's going to happen.  Lakers will get Dwight Howard.  Don't see what Houston has to offer that would beat Cleveland.  And Cleveland actually wants to pair Bynum with Kyrie.

sigh...

i don't  see how dwight to LA is good at all, it makes LA better.  If LA is better then they have a better chance at earning a championship.  Most Celtics fans do not want this  to happen.  Am I missing something?   sigh...
