Who do you think has the best and worst offseason so far in the NBA?? Heres mine...

Best
1.Brooklyn-resign Deron, Wallace, Humphries, and Lopez. Getting johnson and evans in trades
2.Boston-resign KG, Bass, and Green. Sign Terry, Draft Sullinger, Melo, and Joseph
3.LA Lakers-Sign Nash and Jamison
4.New York-Sign Camby and Kidd. Resign JR. Trade forFelton
5.Dallas-Sign Mayo, Brand, and may getting Calderon

Worst
1.Orlando-still got Howard and didnt sign anyone to help
2.Chicago-didnt sign anyone at SG or PG to help till Rose get back.
3.Portland-May let Batum walk and no great FA signing. Hickson to up and down
4.Houston-Over pay for Lin and has no legit Center. Plus may trade whole team for a one year rental in DH. Bad move if this happens
5.Spurs-didnt get any younger

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Nets and Lakers have to be the two best. Far and away the best of the best.

The worst? Ehem, hmm, Phoenix would be a good option. Oh and Atlanta. Yeah, they'd be my two worst.

I don't like what has happened in Dallas or New York but neither has been enough to crack the worst of the worst. Dallas because they have retained cap flexibility and NYC because, despite losing Lin, they have added some good role players to their team.

Anytime you win the NBA title, steal a key component from your rival, and thus get better then you're having a good off-season.

Orlando's gotta be the worst. They traded Ryan Anderson for Ayon (which might not be all that bad), but the resigned Jameer Nelson for lord only knows why, and they failed to resolve the Howard trade. Every day they wait, their leverage lessons as teams back out to make more concrete plans. If they are forced to wait until January to make the deal, I really think they're going to be screwed.

I think Houston, looking back, will still have had a pretty decent off-season even if they don't acquire Howard. They effectively entered a full rebuild, and still have Kevin Martin's big expiring contract. Even if they miss out on Howard, they're poised to suck this season and come back next season with a high lotto pick and probably 2 or 3 long-term starters at least from their young guys.

And if Jeremy Lin pans out to be 85% of the player he was in NY during the winning streak, they've kinda hit a homerun.

I want to hold out on judgement on the Orlando Magic until the Dwight Howard situation gets resolved.

I don't care about the Ryan Anderson departure. If Dwight does get traded which appears to be a near-certainty, Anderson would have been more of a liability than an asset at that pay-level. I do, however, hate that Jameer Nelson contract extension. Awful.

The Hornets have had a very good offseason IMO so far.

Dallas' offseason has been bad.

This was the offseason to get Williams and Howard.

Instead Mayo and Kamen.

Was this worth blowing up a title team?

Truf. Except that whole "Austin Rivers as a point guard" craziness. Shoulda gone Lowry.

I think Austin Rivers will turn out to be a pretty good PG.

Not a whole lot of evidence to back that up, but he wouldn't be the first guy who made the transition from college 2 to NBA 1.

That Anderson contract is gonna be a major albatross moving forward, though.  He might be useful to them as a player but that salary number will haunt them I think.

You dont think this year Dallas team will be better than last year? They added Brand, Kaman, Mayo, and maybe Caldren. Now rather have Deron and DH, but i think its a major upgrade from last year team

I want to see the Rockets end game. Count me among the fans who think the Knicks are a terrible embarrassment. So far, the best off season award goes to the Lakers, I think, and the worst is the Knicks, but the groundwork has been laid for both to be outdone.

The Rockets are shooting the moon... when all is said and done they could be a title contender or they could be looking up at the Charlotte Bobcats.

I think the team they gave up (Terry, Chandler to name two) was a better team then the one they ended up with this offseason.

To me, that's a failure.

Best:
1) Miami - Sucks to say, but they added two 3-pt shooters (Allen and Rashard) and re-signed 3-pt shooter Miller.  For a team that just won the title based entirely on an offense of James and Wade driving and either getting fouled (fair or foul) or kicking it out for open 3s, they just brought in two fantastic 3-pt shooters and re-signed their own.  Oh yeah, and one of them was a HOF-er from the Celtics.  They didn't really need height or anything else.  Camby would have been an unnecessary bonus.  Lack of height can only hurt them against one team...

2) Fakers - Sucks to say (again), but the Fakers added Nash (ugh, makes me sick to write that!) and somehow got bigger down low (Jameson, possibly J. O'Neal).  Now, I'm not saying Jameson or O'Neal will contribute, but it doesn't hurt to have two near-7-footers backing up your front line of 7-footers (Pau and Bynum).  Nash will contribute both on-ball and off-ball, as he can hit 3s and pull-ups as good as anyone his age.  And, what angers me most is they gave up almost nothing to bring in these guys.  Nash for draft picks???  And, the rumor is they're going strong after Howard, and all they'd need to give up is Bynum and more filler.  What a crock!

3) Celtics - Retaining one's own was important, and they brought back KG, Bass, Wilcox, and Green.  KG is probably the biggest signing of the off-season, especially at the hometown discount he took.  Signing Terry will prove an upgrade over Allen if he stays healthy and meshes with Rondo and KG (those are our offensive and defensive captains).  I like the draft we had, but they won't contribute this year.  Losing Allen hurts for three reasons: He shot over 40% from 3 last season, he went to the Heat, and Ainge can't use his salary money elsewhere because of the CBA.  The Celtics didn't get bigger down low, but they added depth and athleticism.  A championship season rests on Jeff Green's shoulders/heart (I'll explain in my upcoming 2012-13 Celtics article).

*The Nets cannot be mentioned here because they just gave Brook Lopez $60 million and took on Joe Johnson's contract.  Huge mistakes.

Worst:
1)/2) Houston/Phoenix - Do these two organizations have any idea what they're doing?  They seem to be working in the dark.  Lin for $25 million.  Phoenix now has 15 PFs.  Things may work out for them, but there seems to be little rhyme or reason so far.

3) Orlando - Like others I'll wait to see how things play out, but it's clear that Howard and Magic management have destroyed this team for years to come.  Amateurish for a team that was in the 2009 Finals.

4) Bulls - They've done nothing to help for this coming season.  Seems they're trying to restructure things around Rose for future seasons.
