That's underselling a bit I think. The Hawks had Joe Johnson as their best player. This Nets team has a top-10 player - the second best point guard in the league - as its best player and JJ as a sidekick. This team is much better than the Hawks of the last couple years - and is much better coached.

Maybe it's me being a little down on one player, and high on the other. But I think Al Horford is a more valuable player than Deron Williams

Not yet, though he was on track to be up there before his injury crushed year.

I think 6 foot 10 inch Al Horford, who is a great defensive player, a very strong post scorer, good shooter from mid range and an excellent passer is a more valuable player than Deron Williams.

Not to mention Horford is a good team player, and not a diva like Deron.

I don't think he's a diva. And I think he's an exceptional, all  star caliber, point guard. But given my choice, I'm going to take Horford over almost every point guard in the league.

Humphries at 2 for $24M and Batum at 4 for $45M (or something like that).

Are we still certain that Jeff Green would be overpaid at 4 for $36M?

Three different situations, which make the figures kind of moot to compare.

And Batum is better than Green.

So, yes.

Once they these guys are eligible to be traded, how much in bad contracts can they take back with Howard?

Those two combine now for roughly 25 million.

Hollinger says they can take back Duhon, J-Rich, Glen Davis, and Q-Rich. Basically everyone except Turkoglu, which might be the reason for the overpay.

Huh.

All the offensive skills you listed are irrelevant since Deron is dominant on that end of the floor and Horford is not.

And yeah, Horford is a decent passer....Deron is one of the best passers the NBA has seen in recent years, along with Nash, CP3 and Rondo.

The gap between Deron/Horford defensively is miniscule compared to the gap offensively.

Also, the Hawks were a 5 seed without Al Horford playing for the bulk of the year.

If he played the full year, they would've probably been . . . a 5 seed.

To call the difference to their defense minuscule is to ignore the 7 inch difference between the two.

They are out of the running for Dwight and needed a quality big.  I don't think it's horrible double digit rebounders don't grow on trees and he should have his head on better without being mr. Kardashian.
