Adding 6 more GMs who aren't aggressive about playing (if they were they'd be clamouring to play) = recipe for drop outs.

What's better having dummy teams locking up players that other players might covet, or having a tighter talent spread?
I think we can still add some people that will show enthusiasm, adding 6 might be a stretch though.

The converse of that, I first really got involved in CB joining the draft.

Somebody at least reach out to MGent, see if he's too shook to mount a title defense.

Has the draft been announced yet? I can't wait to see how the order shakes out.

Can we do also a franchise draft?

While there's some down time, I'd like to make another suggestion:

I'd like to see the Playoff posts be limited to one post, one rebuttal.

I think it hurts the voting process when certain matchups are pages long. Good points get lost in it, and I'm sure it just turns certain people off. Filing through 15 pages of back and forth can be really time consuming in itself, but then you're looking at repeating it 8 times.

If you make it an easier read, I think it improves participation greatly.

As a modification to this, I'd suggest two "official" arguments, while still allowing people to banter away as much as they want in a different thread.

Can we also do a city draft, to draft spots in the franchise draft?

With the team with the higher seed having the freedom to choose first post, last rebuttal, or second post, first rebuttal.

Interesting. tell me moar.

That's pretty much it. I couldn't really come up with a way to have some q&a without dragging things on too long.

Bottom line is thtat if you make it an easier read, I think it improves participation greatly.

Then have a match ups debate page?

I care less about the winner myself versus the actual debate and outside questions.

That might be the way to do it.

I just think while it's fun for the people involved, for those on the outside, it can be a real pain.

So either

1. Spend a TON of time on getting through them all
2. Just look at the rosters, and make a decision without understanding strategy or maybe strong points that might not be ovious.
3. Just stop voting

This is true. Previous years some GMs wouldn't even participate in trade talks due to lack of interest.

On board with this. I guess 24 is fine to keep to just the interested GM's. If we can stretch to maybe 26 is better. But 24 should be okay.

How about the page goes like this.

A vs B

A presents his lineup, strategy, so and so.

B gets ask a few questions, A gets a rebuttal to all those questions, and done.

Then vice versa.

The point is to strictly put the questions/rebuttals to just 4 post (2 for each player).

And then the rest can weigh in, but strictly no rebuttals. Everyone post their take, and from there, from all the opinions, including the involved GMs in a match with their presentation, questions and rebuttals, we decide on who wins.

I tried, my English might still need some work.

Well put, Yoki - the only concern I'd have is us using so many threads and dominating the 'latest forum topics' that much more.

EDIT:

A way around this, though it'd take some work from the mods is making sure the first 4 posts of each playoff thread was the 2 posts and rebuttles from each team.

I agree that having 6 dead teams is bad, but there are some "regulars" missing from the list IIRC so bumping up from 24 to even 26 should be fairly doable...

30 to 24 was too big a jump IMO (and i think a few other GMs).

And while I'd gladly go back to 30, i think maybe a compromise woudl be to nudge back in that direction .... i.e. to 26.

Either way it's all good b/c it's....

Rebus, depending on when this draft gets off the ground, I may need someone to take over for me. I'm unavailable from Aug 14 until Labor Day.
