Gortat isn't going anywhere.... how is this even a speculation in the comments above? They now have a great cheap PF to play with Frye and Gortat and Morris. That is a solid big-man core. There not going to break it up now by moving the best piece in Gortat...

I think many are missing the point on Scola. I really doubt he finishes his contract with the Suns. What the Suns did was acquire an extremely attractive trade chip come playoff time for a fraction of his market value. I can easily envision a contender trading a 1st rd pick (obviously along with matching salary) for the chance to bolster their team come playoff time.

They'll have to wait until next year to be able to trade him.

You're right, I just looked it up. I knew the waiving team aspect, but not the receiving team period.

Still a nice trade chip to have down the road though.

Quote
The waiving team may not re-sign or re-acquire the player for the length of his contract (which includes seasons following an ETO, but does not include seasons following an option), and the claiming team is prohibited from trading the player until the following July 1.

Mayo's situation is going to interesting. A report just came out saying he is leaving Phoenix without a contract because his price is too high. He wants 8 mil plus. That is high , but I was thinking that would be the offer he would get from Phoenix. I don't think any of the teams contending for his services can pay him that outside of Phoenix, and they may be moving on. The C's might be able to pull off a S&T that can get mayo close to 8 mil. All things considered, I think it would be worth it

I think they must be planning on using Beasley as a small forward.

PG - Dragic, K.Marshall
SG - (Mayo), (TBD)
SF - Beasley, Dudley
PF - Scola, Frye, H.Warrick
C  - Gortat, (R.Lopez), M.Morris

Even if, as speculated above, the Suns claimed Scola to deal him next summer (a smart move IMO), they've put together a nice little team quickly in the wake of Nash moving to the Fakers.

It's got some talent, and some "no-one-believes-in-us/me" guys (some for good reason)... It'll be intersted to see if the pieces (including 3 international starters) can come together.

It does seem high, but the range is based on his projected performance going forward.  If 8 million is the number, I hope Ainge can just swing an S&T with Memphis directly.

Ugh I don't want Mayo anywhere near this team, not at his price and with Terry already signed to boot!

Of all the players they have been linked to in rumors, Mayo has the most potential to be a game changer. I hope Danny can figure out a way to make it happen. I believe Lee may get signed fairly quickly. He seems to be the affordable plan b for everyone that wants Mayo. Outside of Phoenix, I think Boston has as good a chance as Dallas and Chicago of getting him

I feel like this would only increase his chances. If Mayo is added they have a nice young nucleus that can be a top 8 contender in the west...finals contender no, but top 8 yes. plus he would get to start with the suns.

Agree.  Lee, ok.  He's low key and plays some 3.  Mayo & Terry overlap too much tho..

I really don't get this line of thinking.  If we sign Mayo, the intent is to make him the starting 2-guard.  Terry is the instant offense combo guard off the bench.

I know Mayo is known primarily for scoring but he can make plays for teammates, and dig in on defense too. Check the tape and you'll be impressed with his work on Chris Paul in the Clippers series.

I don't think Mayo and Terry overlap much.  Even if they're both reserves, there's room for two scorers in the backcourt coming off the bench.  It's not like they're just scorers either.  Terry is very aggressive looking for his shot but he can pass.  The same with Mayo whose willingness to pass is very underrated.  In fact I think Mayo has the mentality to be a good point guard but his below-average handle holds him back.  It does not hold up against pressure or in tight spaces.

He's a very skilled guy besides the handle but unfortunately ballhandling is a pretty big skill for a guard.

Pass on Mayo.  I prefer Miracle Whip.
