Didn't see this yet...has it been posted?

http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2012/07/sunday-buzz-column-dolphins-chatter-with-training-camp-less-than-two-weeks-away-though-some-of-the-young-veterans-hav.html

Heat fans should appreciate Ray Allen next season, because there's no assurance he will be here beyond that. Two sources with direct knowledge tell us that Allen’s two-year deal with the Heat includes a $3.2 million player option for 2013-14. So if Allen wants to become a free agent again next July, he can. So can Rashard Lewis, due $1.4 million in 2013-14.

Maybe he really just likes golfing and sandy beaches. There's really just no logical explanation as to why he would choose Mia over Boston. Is Rondo really that bad?

there really is no logical reason, other than he was being a diva and making an emotional decision. the guy demanded 3/27million$ and then signs for 2/6million$ with a player option for the 2nd year?

.when you look at Ray allens complaints...they were job security, money, reduced role/touches

so, he decides to go to a team where:

1. there is no offer of job security whiel the C's offer a no-trade clause
2. half the amount of money the celtics offered
3. he still is going to come off the bench

unless ray is just ok with coming off the bench for D.wade and not bradley...even thats kind of a slap in the face to bradley

well, it just gets more and more crazy, doesn't it?

I think there are additional non basketball reasons going on here and Id be pretty confident about it. There is something he wants to be around that he has or can have down in Miami. And maybe something he needs to get away from in Boston. I have had 2 best friends who were pro players, both all stars and well known and have heard every story you can imagine. If its true Ray took this little there is a good chance he is running to or away from something. Seriously tell me how this makes sense that its about basketball? You can't look at the two rosters and tell me it was all about playing for a title either.

This is starting to get comical.

He went to Miami for the same role, the same amount of years, but half of what we offered. Hysterical.

Can we put to bed the arguments saying he made a business decision like the C's were by shopping him? The more I hear, the more I think his ego was the issue.

He seemingly has no issue playing behind DWade, maybe because DWade is an all-start. Maybe Ray's ego couldn't handle backing up an unproven 21 year old in Avery Bradley. Add this to the rumors tht his jealousy played a role in his issues with Rondo - man, I'm glad he's gone.

I've been in the "Celtics and Ray need to part ways" camp for awhile, but I had always hoped it would be on better terms.

Yeah...this seems unbelievable. I mean...I'm sure the article is correct. I just can't see why Ray would even entertain this offer, let alone sign it.

Is there some way that having Ray opt out and sign for more money with the Heat next offseason would help Miami's salary cap situation? Maybe he'll opt out , then sign for 2 years and $10 million or something. Cap experts...does that make any sense?

Hard to figure out, that's for sure...

I'm starting to think that the idea of Ray leaving and intentionally trying to "stick it" to the Celtics makes the most sense. And that idea is crazy, so it makes me nervous that it's starting to make the most sense to me.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Ray always dressed pretty stylish.

Maybe Ray just needed to look at life through those lenseless Wade glasses.

Sounds like Ray is hoping to be a key contributor to a ring next year, then parlay that into one more decent-sized contract before retirement.

Probably won't work, but that seems like the intent of this setup.

I've been trying to avoid Ray threads because I'm just over it, but is this for real?
So you mean to tell me he went to Miami for basically the same things in Boston but took less pay.
Yes this was personal because I seriously can't think of any other reason to take that deal especially after you went and asked Boston for 3yrs/27 million.
I also have a feeling he probably will miss it in Boston.

up to him, it's his talent if he wanted to be payed less for doing the same job, without a no trade clause, well, seeya them.

what I didn't like was the classless throwing rondo under the bus routine he played, smeelled of pure jeasoulsy.

It's good for the Celts if Ray opts out after a year, the Heat either lose him or he cuts into their ability to add another player.

ya, this just makes absolutely no sense at all...there wasnt even the advantage of an extra year in signing with Miami
