I know its a long shot but IF danny can pull of the Terry sign and trade and both Lee and Mayo accepted the MLE and wanted to come here who would you prefer ?

For me its Lee : better shooter , defender and higher Bball IQ. Plus he will fit right in and he won't ask for the star role (less of a headache)

I agree--though I can imagine Danny being tempted by the defender that Mayo ought to be able to be.

I'm not sure lee is a better shooter.  Mayo is better offensively so it's offense or defense.  Id take either but I'm afraid we'll end up with  neither.

Mayo won't take the MLE. For some reason he still thinks he's a star so I seriously doubt he'll accept a diminished role and smaller contract for a chance to play with the Celtics.  He just doesn't seem like that type of guy.  Plus, it sounds like the Mavs are done listening to Danny's S/T offers for Jet so now we have to hope the Dwight debacle runs its course soon so Daryl Morey can start paying attention to trying to S/T Courtney Lee.

Lee is more attainable, and is a better fit for our squad.

Mayo has more upside.

Mayo said he wouldn't take the MLE a while back and he's still on the market. Maybe he will now.

I feel Lee is the safer bet. Mayo also has the biggest downside, and with our current makeup, a bit of wing size defense is my biggest concern, and Lee seems like the guy for the job.

Mayo with this group intrigues me, but I'd rather just go with Lee for the time being, not much of a risk and in our current make-up be a better pick for us.

Lee IS a better shooter than Mayo. Look at the numbers, people.

Lee: 43.3% FG, 40.1% 3-point, 82.6% FT, 53.4% TS
Mayo: 40.8% FG, 36.4$ 3-point, 77.3% FT, 51.3% TS

In fact, Mayo is not a very good shooter, and Lee is an above average shooter.

Lee is also a better defender.

Mayo's advantage is that he is a better rebounder and passer.

I hink Courtney Lee would be a better fit for the Celtics definitely. More of a team player and a much better defender...

I think Courtney Lee would be a much better fit.  I'm not really all that interested in OJ Mayo.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Lee.

1)   Defender with more size

2)  Better outside shot

3)  Doesn't need the ball in his hands.

Listening to a lot of the NBA guys, they seem to believe that Mayo offensively could be really good in a pick and roll offense with the ball in his hand.  That is not going to happen in Boston.

In Boston, it will be more of the same as it was in Memphis.  Lots of talent, but not the opportunities to be successful because the role does not fit the skill or mindset.

I think he's been waiting for the Phoenix situation to resolve itself.  The rumor has been that if the Hornets matched Phoenix's offer sheet to Eric Gordon (which they did today, I believe), Phoenix would then make a pitch to Mayo.  Somewhere between the MLE and what they offered Gordon.  Sometimes guys are stuck in a holding pattern due to teams chasing bigger fish.
