Reportedly he is healthy again after injuring his wrist last year.  The Cleveland Cavs are in rebuild mode and they would really like to move Varejao's salary, 2nd highest on the team at around 9m.  Baron Davis is an expiring contract for them so they might be able to be relieved from that at the trade deadline as well.  What this means is that in 2013 they could make a run at some premiere free agents.

Moving Varejao is a must for Cleveland.  Can the Celtics find a way to capitalize?  He's an energetic big who rebounds very, very well, averaging over 10 boards per game throughout his career.  I think he would be a huge piece to add for Boston.  I just don't know what we can to match up salary-wise to make such a move happen.  Any ideas from the cap savvy?  Getting Varejao is probably easier move to make than to get Josh Smith.  Oh and Varejao's final year is a team option.  So the Celtics can opt not to pick it up if he doesn't pan out for us.

1) We have no cap space to do this.

2) Baron Davis was a Knick last year. He got amnestied.

Thanks for the update on baron davis.  so that would mean varejao has the highest salary on the cavs now.  they should be motivated to move him right?

Can we do some kind of sign and trade involving dooling and some other guys to get within the required salary range?

Varejao is going to make over $7 million this year. We'd need a whole lot more than Dooling's salary.

I hate Varejo... His game would help here. But im not a fan and dont think we would be able to get him in green. Im fine with passing on him.

I'd love to trade Jeff Green for him midway through next season.

Varejao would be much better than Darko. He can run the floor and defends well. You would have to give up Bass; but with Sulinger and Green as Backups at PF maybe you take him. Wilcox can also play PF, so gives you some flex.

Can Bass be traded since he was just signed?

PF: KG, Wilcox, Sulinger, Green, JjJ
Center: Varejao, KG, Wilcox, Melo

This is the best way to get him. I don't think you can move Bass though. Only way it's possible is if we acquire Terry through a sign and trade and then have 5 million left over. We then need to move at least another 3 million-ish to clear space. Can't really see it happening to be honest. But man I'd love him on our squad. His defense and rebounding patrolling the paint with KG would just be a nasty combo. Plus Rondo would increase his value even more with all the easy buckets he'd get.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

That was my suggestion earlier if rebounding was still a major issue.

I would love to have Sideshow on our roster.   He always have gave us problems.  He rebounds and defends and doesn't need the ball.

Assuming Wilcox and Sullinger are playing well at PF, Bass for Sideshow would make a lot of sense.

Bass cannot be traded until Jan 15

Varejao would be an awesome addition, but we don't possess any realistic means to aquire him, unfortunately.
