This is my own personal opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree. I wouldn't trade Rondo for Bynum straight up for one simple reason.  Rondo is one of the NBA's premier competitors among the younger set while Bynum's competitive drive is highly questionable as is his durability.

I'd trade Rondo for an upgrade at his position which means Rose or Paul. I'd trade Rondo for a package that improves us this season and down the line like for a solid young starting PG and a Starting caliber BIG with upside but I wouldn't trade him for an ancient PG who can't defend and a center with bad knees and a bad attitude

Yes, because I think this would bring us closer to a title.  The deal would have the potential to blow up in our faces, but it could also win us two championships.

LA wouldn't do this, though.

Absolutely not.. Nash for what? He can't even get the ball up court without a walker.. Bynum for what? So he can cry about Garnett being too mean to him?  No thanks.  Nash and Bynum will not get us a ring this year... They're not even going to get the Lakers out of the West... So i'll pass.

The one question that needs to be asked - if salaries matched, would you trade: Avery Bradley for Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, a prime Magic Johnson, a reincarnated Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh (three team trade) or are we giving up way too much in that trade?

... which is why Phoenix played at the 8th quickest pace in the NBA last year despite not having a particularly young or athletic roster.

I don't think I'm prepared to gamble on Bynum's knees. Otherwise, I think the deal is fairly equal in terms of talent, which probably means it's horribly lopsided in our favor.

High risk high reward this trade is. But yes, if LA is stupid enough to offer this, this is one trade Rondo scenario I would agree upon.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

This -->  Bynum's health (and Nash's defense) would keep me from making this deal.  Danny hasn't exactly done well in bringing in centers the past few years.  A deal for Bynum is almost a guarantee Bynum gets knocked out every year of his contract.

No.
Trading a young pg on a great contract for an always injury prone, motivation-less, big man and the no-defense, out of the league quite soon Nash doesn't do it for me.
But I am in the don;t trade Rondo period camp. Build around him. His abilities coupled with his current contract makes it near impossible to find equal value.

I'd seriously think about moving Rondo and whatever filler is needed for Nash & Bynum.

And if you were the Boston GM, you'd seriously think about putting your house up for sale with that trade.

. . . to buy a MUCH bigger house in the Boston area.

But seriously, Rondo is a great player.  So is Nash, and so is Bynum.  Nash carried a really bad Phoenix team to a .500 record and playoff contention for most of the season.  He's still an elite player, and a front line of Bynum / KG would cover a lot of his defensive lapses.

Again, though, LA wouldn't do this under any circumstances.

EDIT:  DANG IT, celtsfan84 stole my joke.

I try to be a realist and this trade just couldn't happen because of the salary differences.  We would be picking up roughly 25 million+ in salary and giving away only 10+ so there's just no way.  But if it did happen the only way you'd even consider it would be if you had assurance that Bynum would sign long term with you.  Then you could at least consider it...  without that no way.

Nash's numbers are going down and so are his minutes per game. At his age that's a bad sign. Rondo's significantly better and the difference will be bigger next year, and in the playoffs you'll get about 12-14 more minutes a game from Rondo than Nash. Bynum puts up good numbers but seems to make less of an impact than that. People were talking about Rondo being one of the best performers in the league in the playoffs. Did you hear anything remotely similar about Bynum?

I sometimes wonder how we don't win the championship every single season when our point guard is worth more than

1) the best offensive point guard in basketball and
2) the second best center in basketball

combined.

The rest of our roster must be pretty awful.
