Beats Stiemsma  ;)

I'm not so sure on clubhouse reasons alone.  Minny apparently doesn't think so.
yeah makes you think twice forgot Minny is going after Steamer and did dump Darko

KAHNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah no kidding.... Kahn is the worst. If he dumped Darko (in part b/c they over-promised FA money) and signs Stiemsma, I almost wonder if that doesnt' say something positive about Milicic.

That said, I'd much rather have Stiemsma.

GC is on the blog! The CBNBA must be near!

He was the 2nd pick apparently for a reason.

The reason was that Joe Dumars was an idiot (or he had  his body and  mind taken over for one night by Chad Ford).

Darko is a stunning 29th in minutes played for that draft class, which had 8 all stars from it so far.  Of the 33 guys who played at least 2000 career minutes, he's the second lowest in win shares/48, right there with our own Sasha Pavlovic.  Zaza Pachulia, selected 40 picks after Darko, has had a way better career.

Darko was picked WAY higher than he should have. It seems to happen a lot with big men.

But who cares, all that is in the past.  The Cs could use another big man off the bench, and if the Cs can get Darko for something close to the vet min, it seems like a no brainer to me.

Darko would be my second pick of the available free agents to sign with the C's.

The first would be anyone else.

TP for the laugh...

but seriously, I'd rather have him than Stiemsma. For the vet min, or even for the BAE, he could bring some toughness if they can make him buy on the team. He's not a bad defender and has some tools offensively. He just needs to focus on being a basketball player. It'd make sense to replace Stiemsma with him and S&T Dooling + Williams for some help on the backcourt.

As a second of third string center im on board. The Celtics need a new white big man/center to follow along the lines of radja, montross, potapenko, and lafrenz.

The problem is people who are using where he was picked in the draft as a reason to believe that he has more upside than he actually has, leading them to improperly value risk vs reward in going after Darko as a free agent.

Not sure what people are looking for from a 3rd string, 5-10 minutes guy.  He's big and block shots and can clog the lane and he has never worked with a motivator like KG (or Doc).   Is he better than Stiemer?  Maybe not, but if he's available for vet minimum, it's a much better deal. Then we'd still have the BAE.  If choosing GS or DM for the BAE, I'd probably go with Greg, but not by much.

Pretty psyched about this. I think Darko would be a great pick up! I think he's a better player than most people realize.

I'd rather have Stiemsma, who gives 100%, than 50% of Darko, because there's no way you're getting more of Darko than 50%.

Based on.....

People have been saying that about Darko for years and yet he continues to under perform.

If you want a big Body there are plenty of those in Vegas at Summer league and some of them can even shot free throws.

With all due respect, those stats tell me nothing.

Once Darko left Detroit he become a serviceable NBA backup center.

He is nothing more than a backup center, but he is certainly better than Hollins and the junk we were playing in the playoffs.

Oh, not to mention he is only 1 year older than Steamer.
