So in terms of pieces for a sign and trade for a current FA like Mayo, if I am not mistaken, we have the following under contract or eligible to sign who could be traded (I know, Pierce and Rondo too but I am going to go out on a limb and assume they are not in the discussion for Lee or Mayo):
Avery Bradley $1,630,800
JaJuan Johnson $1,120,440
Sean Williams $915,852
E'Twaun Moore $762,195
Michael Pietrus $2,400,000
Keyon Dooling $2,527,200
Williams and Moore are non-gauranteed which is nice. We have the ability to sign Pietrus and/or Dooling (assuming we have roster spots open) and add in their salary. Is is correct that Dooling is an Early Bird candidate and could only be offered a 12.5% raise ($2,527,200)? Pietrus was a min salary guy last year so the most we can offer him is the LLE which is about $2,400,000 this year?
To me, this is why DA is holding off on signing Terry and Green. That gives two open roster spots if he needs to sign both Dooling and Pietrus in a trade. Seems to me, Memphis would like Pietrus to actually play plus Moore and Williams as they are Non-G. Those 3 would add up to about $4M. We could take back $5M in a trade but then we are really flirting with the luxury tax this year and next.
I don't think that is going to get Mayo.
