Dallas have renounced all their FA,including Jet so no sign and trade possible to preserve our MLE.

In the most trade ideas,it's Moore, williams,JJJ,Dooling s&t plus pick to go at Either Lee or Mayo.
Don't know how/if possible to have 3rd team to make Jet sign and trade ?

So I think Ainge will try to wait until tomorrow or monday to see if Hornets match Gordon, to then try to make a move for Mayo.

Minnesota signed Batum to a illegal contract, they could still working on sign and trade with Portland ?
They have Roy signed, don't see their need for Mayo.

I think we Will know about Rockets soon, Will Knicks match lin, if not then Lee is also target, depending on Howard scenario.

Ainge is waiting out those FA, i'm expecting the next 2-3 days to settle few things, including Steamer to Minnesota.

I do not understand what hell he's doing...This team needs a big center(Howard). Need a replacement for Ray, 1 or 2 great snipers from distance, and to get back Pietrus.

Why is it that hard? He's seeing if he can get Mayo or Lee(Ray replacements), you have a sniper in terry, and waiting for the other teams to do some thing is to see what is out their. Ray replacements wont be cheap so he needs to do a sign and trade to get either one of those guys. If not its a cheap fill in until Bradley gets back.

The Big will come after that. They don't need a BIG center to take on Howard(he has limited offense), I'd be more worried about Johnson,Lebron,Wade,Melo. A service big man will be around in the next week, maybe he's hearing some more cuts by teams that he will want to pick up. I think with Wilcox and Sully they've helped solve some of the rebounding issue. Melo even had 10 yesterday so thats a positive.

Dany is a patient man. He dosen't make rash, pull the trigger moves. everything has a purpose. Like why isn't Green signed? Maybe to restructure his contract to sign some one else that would take more than the MLE.

He also may have seen some summer league players he liked. Joseph looks promising. He may wait for the Vegas one to be over with. Or maybe the Rooks are in a trade, and have to wait an other few weeks to make a move.

Many options, the team as of now looks good, just a couple more pieces, even if small and it will have been a good summer.

Question for one of you who's way smarter than I am:  How long after you officially sign a free agent can he be traded?  Totally hypothetical, but for instance how soon can Danny include the contracts of players like Wilcox and Bass in trade scenarios?

No free agent signed in the offseason can be traded until December 15 of that year or until three months have passed (whichever comes later), a rule that prevents teams from signing free agents with the intent of using them strictly as trade fodder. For draft picks this moratorium lasts 30 days.

In a S&T, do all contracts need to be 3-years in duration?

Can the other team waive them upon arrival? (e.g., Pietrus to Houston)

Also, can players already on contract be included in a S&T package deal (e.g., Pietrus and JJJ)? How does that work?

Terry is ray's replacement....once Bradley comes back, he is the starter and Terry is the 6th man off the bench backing him/rondo up

Pietrus isn't under contract. JJJ can be included b/c he is already under contract. Pietrus would have to be S&T. I think they can waive the non-guaranteed contracts like Moore... or release the player...

No, Terry isn't the "Ray replacement"... we wanted Terry to go along with Ray. I think we are hoping to get Lee/Mayo as the replacement.

While this is correct, it's only partly correct.  This stipulation you referenced also inculdes the stipulation that players re-signed using Bird-Rights, who are signed for more than 120% of their previous contract and the team is over the cap, can not be traded until Jan 15th.

The easiest way to sum this up is:

Wilcox and KG= can be traded after Dec 15th
Bass and Green= can be traded after Jan 15th

As for Terry, it depends on whether he comes here as a FA or through trade.  If he comes as a FA, it would be Dec 15th.  If he comes through trade, he could be traded again immediately, provided he is not used in a trade aggregating his salary with that of another player.

1. Yes, a player who is signed-and-traded must be signed to a minimum 3 year contract.  Only the first season must be guaranteed though.  Any additonal players included, who are already under contract, do not need to be under contract for any specified time period.

2. Yes, the receiving team can waive any player it receives in a trade immediately.  Salaries of players with non-guaranteed contracts (i.e. Williams and Moore) do not count against the cap.  Players with guaranteed contracts can also be waived, but unless another team claims said player through the waiver process, the waived player's salary counts against the cap.

3. Yes, players already under contract can be included in a S&T.  This is typically done with the purpose of aggregating multiple player salaries in order to receive a player of higher salary.

Also, for anyone interested, here is a very helpful link to better understand all of the CBA ins and outs.  It's kind of a difficult read, but it explains pretty much everything.

Great.  Thanks for the clarification.  One TP now, one in an hour.
