Was Ray forced to sign with the Heat? Has he expressed sorrow for having signed with the Heat? Was he free to sign with the Heat subject to whichever conditions both parties requested from each other? Are free agents forced to sign with specific teams? What does being a "free" agent mean? Did Ray know what he was doing when he signed with the Heat, or was he tricked into signing his contract? Whats the problem then?

it was rays right to choose where he wanted to go as a free agent...I dont think that really is the issue here.

by the same token it is OUR right to be upset/angry if he chooses our rival who offered half of what we did for the same role

I think most people believe that Ray left the Celtics for personal decisions not business.

I don't think Danny or the team ever had a personal problem with Ray. Yeah they tried to trade him for good value. OJ mayo and a pick. Then when that fell through they said, it's nothing personal it's a business and we still want you so we will offer you twice as much money as anyone else.

How is this the same thing? It's not.

Even if you breakout it down to a "Regular" person's job it still doesn't add up.

At the end of the day Ray took things personally and made an emotional decision where the Celtics were all business all the time.

The reason why it's assuming a lot of things is because youre only using money and role as the assets in question here.

Those are typically important in regards to a strictly business decision. He did sign a longer term deal, but for less overall money than we offered.

I was checking out Avery Bradley's twitter page and couldn't help but notice his profile picture. In the picture, it shows AB scoring on a three point shot and the whole bench was going nuts...well except for Ray. It would seem that ray wasn't really too thrilled with AB's emergence as a starter. Check out AB's twitter page below and click on his profile picture...

Strange how we notice how horrible a person Ray Allen was only after he's left us. There were so many clues.

And, adding insult to injury, we are contenders! Guys do not leave contenders for slightly better contenders for less money. If they do, they should expect some fallout.

The only example I can think of is Shaq, who left a good team in Orlando to take less (not half, but less) in LA.  Of course Orlando and LA were not conference rivals and LA had not just beat them by a whisker in the conference finals. Also, the dollars were not hugely different.  Orlando is still mad.

We all know that Ainge was the reason that Ray is out of Boston, he should value more Allen, Ainge put Ray in the market on each  trade deadline, Ray was sold to Memphis until the last minute when Doc told him.

But anyway, Ray Allen should never go to Miami, and left alone to KG and Pierce.

I love Ray Allen because I'm an old school, but he is an enemy now, sorry.

The truth is simple he did leave us to go to MIA.  He turned down more money to make a point that he didn't feel respected.

He did. He is a traitor, or better yet a tRAYtor.

Glad Danny basically called him out to the media. He deserves nothing less.

That is not how it works. Pierce was on the block last year, you see him throwing a fit like a prima donna?

Danny's job is and always will be to explore all moves to improve the team. Not coddle babies like Ray Allen.

SImple as AB took Rays job , Rondo and most everybody in the world dsaw the difference in how much better the team was with AB on the floor.  Doc was put in the middle of a friendship and do the right thing as the Celtics coach. The right thing was to bench Ray. I wonder , if DA put pressure on Doc to do this. and Ray found out. It was common sence move though. Ray is pig headed.

Ray couldn't handle it , swallow his pride, and become a player asset off the bench like most guys his age. He was tormented  , knowing AB was playing well and didn't fell he could get his starting job back.  Shame he left for the heat is my issue with him leaving.  Any team but the heat or LA.

Ray Allen may be a bit of a fraud but yeah he never really got excited on the bench.

Actually he ever really got excited when he made shots on the floor. He gave a little bit of a fist pump and yelp when he passed Reggie Millers record though. So he got excited once in 5 years

Allen's deal isn't as lousy as first thought.  His contract contains an opt out for next summer. He can opt out, with the Heat re-signing him for the MLE, if both sides so choose.

I'm not accusing any parties of collusion here.  I can't imagine any one associated with the Heat doing any type of collusion to help their team, especially during what is the time where our country is working out its Olympic team.

Quote
Heat fans should appreciate Ray Allen next season, because there's no assurance he will be here beyond that. Two sources with direct knowledge tell us that Allen’s two-year deal with the Heat includes a $3.2 million player option for 2013-14. So if Allen wants to become a free agent again next July, he can. So can Rashard Lewis, due $1.4 million in 2013-14.

If Allen and Lewis both “opt-in” for 2013-14, Miami again would have only the $3 million mini-mid level exception, even if its amnesties Mike Miller, barring trades. If Allen and Lewis opt out, using the amnesty provision on Miller would give the Heat a $5 million exception.

If Allen has a great season and the Heat wins another title -- and if he and Lewis opt out -- the Heat hypothetically could amnesty Miller and give Allen the $5 million exception, bumping his pay by $1.8 million. Or it could use the $5 million on another player.
