What I am learning is what I already knew. A sign and trade with either Hou or Dal is a long shot, especially of the only real compensation is a 2nd round pick. Do we give up a first? That's only a bit better but I'd do it, expecially considering the number of young players we already have on the team.
I still tend to agree with this. Even if the Celtics cover the cost of what they send, do the Mavs really do this for a 2nd round pick?
I know the perception is that a 2nd round pick is better than nothing, but they're still helping a competitor out.
Again, I'd love to be completely wrong about this, I just think as a Celtics fan if any other playoff team called up about someone like Pietrus and wanted to give us a second round pick and garbage for him, I'd probably just turn it down.
If a team wants a second round pick next year, they can usually pick one up for next to nothing on draft day.
