I do not get this trade at all Howard says if he goes there he's not signing an extension and they'll just be renting him. How does this make sense for the Rockets?!?

I think the new proposed trade is for the picks to go to the Magic, Howard to go to the lakers, and Bynum to go to the Rockets. I guess Houston feels they have a better shot at retaining Bynum

If I were the Rockets, I would dare him to leave... what team will be able to take him on after this season? No one will have any money to take him on, he will have no choice but to sign! Nets will sign Brooke, NYK broke, LA broke if they don't get him via trade, Mia broke, Celts broke, Clippers broke... where can he go? Dallas, with who? Dirk, hahaaahahahahaha... I say let him try it!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I could see him going to Dallas or Atlanta but really staying with Houston might be just as good at that point.

Agree.

He will need a S&T to make money. Houston then in position to S&T to a team with something else they want or he signs with them.

The chances of Dwight signing with the MLE are very low obviously.

He's a fool for picking up his option for next year. He should have declined. Lots of teams under cap for this year.

Rockets remain strongly engaged w/ Orlando in direct talks for Dwight Howard, sources tell Y! They've spent little time on 3-way scenarios.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Hope Houston lands him. Without S&T as an option, Nets, Lakers, among others with little shot beyond helping out Houston even more.

I do not get this trade at all Howard says if he goes there he's not signing an extension and they'll just be renting him. How does this make sense for the Rockets?!?

If they get his rights, they stand a chance of re-signing him, at least. He'd be leaving millions of dollars on the table if he left the team he's on by the end of this season. Further, his prefered destination seems less and less likely to be available, so if Brooklyn is out of the running, the Rockets will at least have had a whole season to work on convincing him to take the money and stay in Houston.

If it doesn't work out, the Rockets will simply suck the next year and be in position for Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins if he reclassifys. Sounds like a win-win to me, and certainly beats being a low lottery team with Kevin Martin and Luis Scola.

I guess that makes some sense, never a promise though

This Morey Guy annoys me, why is he engaging Lakers in 3way talks with Rockets-Magic if he can trade for Howard straight up? He has rookies, capspace and expirings to offer Orlando.

Howard doesn't want to sign extension with Lakers just as much as Rockets so why try so hard to give Lakers Howard ?

He's nothing but a Lakers lackee.

Cause he could get Andrew Bynum out of it who could possibly maybe sign an extension with Houston.

It puts them in position to offer the most money.

And they believe they will have a strong season with him.
