I hear Dwight Howard is available

;)

He was interested in opting out of Orlando the last year of his contract and signing up with us for the BAE or the veterans minimum ;)
The beatings will continue until morale improves

For the love of God, can we please not have Ryan Hollins on this team next year. He is atrocious.

Can someone answer this for me?

Obviously we don't have Wilcox's Bird rights after one year.  However, I thought there was a clause in at least the old CBA that allowed teams to re-sign a player to a certain percent raise over the salary that he had played at the year before.

So, can we do this with Wilcox or are we limited to only using the minimum or BAE?

We waived him.  So he's not even "our" free agent anymore.  Sadly.

Frankly, I'm not seeing enough love on here for Chris Wilcox. He's not a true center, but few guys are, and he was just hitting his stride when he was shelved last season. 6-10, can run with Rondo, pretty good rebounder, high-energy guy. Use the vet min on him if you can; if not, give him the BAE, which is less than the mini-MLE Boston gave him last season.

I wonder if Danny is holding out hope for some amnesty/buyout/waiver candidates.  Darko, Haywood, Diop, Blatche, Kurt Thomas, Birdman...

Among the minimum guys I like Hamed Haddadi, Joel Przybilla and Jamaal Magloire for sheer size/mass.  It would be nice to have 6 hard fouls and a couple rebounds from a giant human being against opponents like the Lakers.

I have read all of the posts and the players mentioned all leave me very unsatisfied. I think we have that we have very little options to acquire players. Free Agents, BAE and S&T. Danny doesn't like to use the BAE because it gives him an option for an emergence acquisition during the season. I don't think he's ever used it? There are several options for S&T Players. My first choice would be to acquire the back up Center from the Warriors: Andris Biedris, good rebounder, good shotblocker (Sorry about the Spelling!) They may be willing to S&T him now that Bogat is on board? The other is a more complicated S&T option. A S&T Trade could be worked out with the Kings for Jason Thompson and Tyreke Evans. The Kings want to get out of Evans' expensive contract we could push them to include Thompson? This may have to be concluded later in the year but it's at least a better option from Hollis or Thomas?

Thoughts?

We don't have much for S&T assets, is the problem.  We aren't allowed to trade the three rookies, I do not believe.  Rondo, Pierce, and KG aren't going anywhere.  Bass and Green have signed contracts (or will soon) to return to Boston; a S&T involving them would have to already be agreed upon, we can't trade them now for 90 days, IIRC.  There aren't many of our own free agents that we have Bird rights on; Ray Allen was one, but he's just signing a straight MLE contract with Miami.

Basically, it's JJJ, Moore, and maybe Sean Williams (non-guaranteed contract) that could go out in a S&T, which isn't much both in terms of talent and in dollars.  Draft picks don't help make salaries match.  I don't see how we literally could make a S&T work for a guy making $6M or $7M.

Bird don't we have Dooling, Moore, JJJ, Pavlovic, Williams, Pietrus, (Bird Rights to) Kristic to S&T? Aside from Kristic they were all on our roster at the end of the year. I have read several post to this effect? If Danny can cobble together
several players in S&T and additional players (JJJ, Williams & Moore) and Draft Choices he could interest other teams that want Cap room or players to fill out their rosters to make a trade Possible? Tough but Possible?

Believe in Danny!

We cannot S&T players who were not on our roster at the end of the year.  Any one we add new can only be traded after 90 days.

So we cannot S&T Green or Krstic, for example.  And Krstic is apparently signing in Russia anyway.

We could trade Bass, but I doubt that happens.

Note - you can only S&T a FA to a team if the FA is willing.   Bass signed to play here.

Dooling, MP - those guys are the only ones we could S&T that might provide enough 'salary beef' to get anybody decent.  The other guys we can trade all would have miniscule salaries and would only be needed as necessary to get within the '150%' window.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Blatche option is very interesting, Blatche is an underrated player, perhaps his character, but he is very talented.

What is clear, the Celtics need a center. Kaman via sign & trade?, Kaman would be spectacular but very difficult.

Camby would have been a good fit, but he went to Knicks.
