Adrian Wojnarowski: Tentacles of Nets-Magic talks covering 14 players, 3 teams w/ possible 4th locking in to take MarShon Brooks to provide pick, sources tell Y

While I'd certainly prefer Courtney Lee to Brooks, sometimes it's more about who you can get rather than who you want.  Ainge has already committed to be at least competitive for the next 2 seasons so, as long as it's lottery-protected, giving up a 1st for Brooks might not be a bad idea.

Danny could put even stronger protection on the pick.

Make it a top 20 or top 23 protected pick. Make sure that if Boston falters next year [and in future year(s)] that they won't be losing a valuable first rounder. Make sure it's a late first round pick in that 22-30 range [or whatever range he decides upon].

Its being reported that Humphries is making things tough by wanting a 4 year deal.

Love it

Yeah I don't see what Kris Humphries gets out of this situation.

That's still not worth it.  Especially not to facilitate a trade of Dwight Howard within our division.

As long as he's not coming to Boston or going to LA, who cares?  You're going to have to beat him and his team one way or another.  I'd focus on making my team better, though whether Brooks does that is an open question.

I much prefer Lee to Brooks. Totally different players, Lee is a great fit for our team, especially defensively, and can hit the 3. Brooks is a bad fit. Mediocre defense and shoot first mentality. He also needs the ball in his hands too much.

In current structure of deal, Orlando gets Brook Lopez, Damion James, Shelden Williams, Luke Walton and 3 or 4 1st rounders, sources tell Y!

If I was a Magic fan, I'd be throwing up right now.

Better be 4 rounders at least.  I don't like Lopez either but at least he's something, everyone else?  GARBAGE.

I don't think this is that bad. Shelden Williams is an elite rebounder. Luke Walton's father is a champion. Michael Jordan was a first rounder - which means that the Magic have four chances to grab a Michael Jordan caliber player...or four Michael Jordans. Brook Lopez is really tall and was mentored by the great Nets big men of the past - among them Aaron Williams and....I guess Aaron Williams.

Pretty good haul.

Would Brook Lopez (on a max deal) plus four non-lottery picks be the worst return on a superstar in recent history?  I can't think of a worse one.

How about Minnesota trading KG? The only serviceable player in that deal was Al Jefferson - and he wasn't significantly better than Brook Lopez at the same age. Or Seattle trading Ray? Wally/Jeff Green/Delonte - who ended up being benched a lot of the season?

KG and Ray were 31 and 32y old. Howard is entering his prime.

If this is true this would be terrible for Orlando. Lopez and 3 late first rounders from Nets.

Btw, Nets are going to have sick payroll. It helps when your owner is Russian billionare.
