I'm going to get pilloried by you guys - especially as an infrequent poster - but, I'm glad to see Ray go.

He's 37 (as of July 20th); he's not a great defender anymore, he doesn't cut to the basket like he once did, and although an awesome shooter, he requires a ton of minutes - which might be better used on someone who gets out a little faster on the break.

With Bradley and Rondo, you can make the case that the Celtics have the fastest the fastest starting back-court in the NBA right now.

Also, of all the teams for Ray to go to - who is going to need him less than Miami? Ray Allen is only a shooting guard. Maybe one of the greatest shooting guards iof all time - but on the Heat, what's his role? Dwayne Wade is also only a shooting guard. Again - a great shooting guard - but that is his only role. Are they going to run sets with TWO shooting guard? Then who will defend Pierce? Or Rudy Gay? Or Danny Granger? ...or will they sub out Chalmers? Then who will bring up the ball? Wade? ...that doesn't sound like a recipe for more hero-ball ...or does it?

Ray Allen is going to become Dwayne Wade's back-up. Does he really think that Wade is going to be less aggravating to deal with over the course of a season than Rondo? ...Rondo is a fiery dude, but he is not the dirtiest player in the league. Wade is.

Frankly, Two years at six million a year damages our chances to participate in the amazing 2013 free agent class. Even if we don't land a star in that Free Agency period, the volume of stars will push down the price of the average role-player.

Thanks for the memories Ray.

There is nothing wrong with that view.  I prefer Avery Bradley far more than Ray at this stage of his career.  It would have been nice to keep Ray for depth, to see the Big 3 keep their run alive, and most importantly to keep him away from Miami.

But we have better players than him so I am not upset at all.

I'm certainly not glad Ray went to the HEAT. But who knows, maybe it will be a blessing in disguise to end the "big 3" era for good and take on a different team identity.

I think I can understand fans frustration with his decision. Honestly, I don't get it, but I knew Ray was eventually going to leave, but not to the Heat. I'm not sure whether Ray, did the right or wrong thing, but he did what's probably best for him. Again, I don't agree with his decision. I think, Ray should of consider other teams, but to go to the Celtics most hated rival as far as the eastern conference. THAT’s move I don't get.

Ray is a first ballot of famer. He's been great and a class act his entire career. Once, Ray Allen arrived to Boston he defined himself as a true competitor. I can understand him being upset about almost being traded and name being mentioned in trade rumors time after time, but he's been in the league 16yrs and should know by now it's a business.

And to somehow is disappointed or angry in losing his starting spot, because his younger, athletic and more defensive minded teammate, Avery Bradley took his spot.  Instead of Ray being angry and bitter, he should have embraced the change, because inserting Bradley improved the Celtics first unit by a large margin. Bradley, does things that Ray can no longer do at his age and stage of his career.

Glad Ray is Gone?

No. Just disappointed with his decision to go to Miami. It's unfortunate, because he likely tarnished his reputation with his former teammates, New England and Celtics Nation.

But don't you think he is somewhat redundant on the Heat?

Other than the fact that he has a nice locker-room pressence or whatever - what does he offer that team that will make it substantively better?

I don't think he offers them all that much, since he and Dwayner Wade play the same position, and neither really plays any other position (e.g. neither is a combo guard).

Put me on the list. I'm looking forward to see him slow down the Heat's offensive pace, allow our backups to score at will, cause friction in the locker room, etc.

I'm just annoyed he won't be here to carry Avery Bradley's bags.

I'm not to bothered by it.  We have Terry who can do similar things as Ray.  Plus I'm ready to see what AB can do full time.

I was also getting annoyed at how stalled the offense becomes when they stand around waiting for Ray to run around the court to get open.

The Heat don't even need a point guard on the court when Lebron is out there. He is basically a point forward so I think they could put both Ray and Wade out there.

But I'm not glad he went to Miami for the sentimental part of the game. I viewed Ray as a Celtic, and to see him in a Miami jersey is going to suck.

From this your point of view Ray, jas no value and he has to be retired. So why Danny was offering 6 millions/year?!

Ray Allen was a major piece of Boston's Big 3. He was apart of something special in 2008 and the next 4yrs after. Ray was a part of a brotherhood that hadn't been seen throughout the NBA for a while. Before, Ray was a Celtic, he was a Buck and Sonic, but I saw him as a Celtics. Ray, just threw away 5 years of hard work. It's unfortunate, Ray no longer saw it that way.

I love Ray Allen, and I think the reason why I was so disappointed was more of Ray Allen being my idol than simply a player on the Celtics or the best 3 pt shooter in history. But set bias aside, Ray Allen does slow our offense down, especially when we try to set him up for the three or shot. He runs through picks trying to get himself free and sometimes that waste so much time off the shot clock. I like us when we attack the basket with Rondo and then dishing to the open guy

This in not Raus fault, is a Docs fault, how he prepare the offensive actions

After hearing how unhappy he was as a Celtic, I wonder if Doc had to run those every once in a while just to keep Ray happy.

With him gone, we don't have the drama of who's going to start, ab or ray. That is a positive.

The thing that irritates me the most is that he is willingly going to help out a thug like wade.
So much for class.

And ray, please see a dr when you get to Miami, I'd hate to see that hurt butt become chronic.
Back to wanting Joe fired.
