we need stiemsma and jjj

you dont trade a project like jjj. he has no trade value so why would you trade him? dallas wouldnt want any of our players
Dallas is losing Terry anyway, by doing this they get a first round pick and have nothing effect their cap.

Plus, they can get a trade exception out of it.
No the couldn't because they are receiving Miller.

I didn't see the part about Miller. What I'm saying is that we could send a package of Johnson, Moore, and Williams (the last 2 being non-guaranteed guys) and picks for Terry. They would obviously cut Williams, but might keep Moore, and they receive a slight trade exception from it.
We aren't under the cap with all our cap holds. There is no exception to give.

Three way?

Ray to Miami

Miller and a 1st to Dallas (Miller retires)

Terry to Boston.
Thats four teams, Miller plays for Minny.

Mike Miller

Mike Miller has $18m coming his way.  No way anyone is taking Mike Miller.

Another option is a sign and trade of Dooling and picks to land Camby. Houston supposedly wants picks and a veteran player to mentor their young players for Camby.

Who is close to retiring.

Who may be amnestied from the Heat.

Dallas would never have to pay him if he retires but gets a 1st round pick instead of nothing for Terry.

Boston and Miami keep their MLE to use.

I don't think it matters if we are under the cap or not. If they're taking in less salary than they're giving out I believe it converts into a TE. Like when we received one from Cleveland for Semih and Harangody.

A s&t is worth ingratiating but would be hard to pull off.
Miami have no incentive to help a rival.

Boston really have no assets worth enough to anyone else to draw interest. Celtics will need to develop some assets and that means younguns need to play.

Think outside the box....sign Krstic and use him and other other pieces, if necessary, in a S &T

It's against the new rules.  Krstic wasn't on our roster at the end of last season, so he can't be signed-and-traded.

Thing is what assurance does Dallas have that Miller retires. I don't think you can put that he has to retire into the trade provisions and if he doesn't, Dallas is on the hook for $18 million. I don't see that happening.

Too bad about not being able to sign Stiemsma for more than his QO in a S&T. The initial trade I think worked well for everyone. Minnesota gets Stiemsma and maybe JJJ if they keep him, Boston gets Terry, Dallas gets a 1st rounder.

Oh well.

This did actually sound like a really good trade, right up until the Stiemsma contract part.

Dang!

Question for the capologists out there. I've read the Celtics still have an $8.3 million cap hold on Nenad Krstic. Could they trade his rights and use that for a potential sign-and-trade? I'm thinking in the context of offering such a deal to the Grizzlies to acquire OJ Mayo.

Unlikely, but if he didn't retire they could void the trade based on Miller flunking his physical.

No. Krstic cannot be used in a sign-and-trade.

I believe the only time "rights" can be used in a trade is when a player (e.g., a draft pick) has never before agreed to a contract. Once he's been signed to a contract (even one that's expired), that salary factors one way or another into the mechanics of a trade.

This is a good question.
Or S&T to Dallas for Terry.
Celtics fan for life.
