Who would you target? I'm listing players I am guessing would take $2M but please add or refute as you see fit -

Former team members:
Pietrus
Wilcox (Non-bird rights?)
Steimsma (has $1M QO)
Dooling (Bird Rights?)

Veteran Guards/Wings:
Gerald Green
Alonso Gee
DeShawn Stevenson
Josh Howard
Jodie Meeks
Michael redd

Bigs:
JJ Hickson
Ronny Turiaf
Chris Johnson
Kwame Brown?
Greg Oden (ha!)

I wonder if Hickson would be helpful, supposedly we had interest during trade deadline but he was given away for nothing so perhaps not. I'd love to see Gerald Green back. A vet like Turiaf could help the backup unit. I think an extra Guard make the most sense post-defection. Hopefully we can get back some combo of Steimsma/WIlcox/Krstic/Sean Williams to beef the frontcourt and find a shooter or bigger defender at the 5th guard spot.

Pietrus, we need wing help...and if bradley's recovery takes longer you can start peaches and bring Terry off the bench.

lets not forget Pietrus was injured in the playoffs which lead to his dropoff...if healthy he should revert back to his 40% from 3 medium.

Pietrus's agent says there's too much interest in him, and the BAE--which is all the C's can offer--probably won't be enough to bring him back.

I'm hoping it's what enables them to reel Stiemer back in and that Wilcox will come back on the vet minimum.

I'd be fine with Wilcox, Pietrus, or any of the bigs you mentioned.

the four names that jump out to me are Pietrus, Stiesma, Redd and Hickson.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't we sign Wilcox to a small raise off of his MLE salary last year?  I know we don't have his Bird rights yet, but I thought we could offer a player whose rights we had a small percent raise over what he earned the year before.

Isn't that also true of Pietrus and Stiemsma?

Redd could be a poor mans Ray Allen? Haven't heard his name in a while. Has he completely washed out?

is this for sure true?? We need to have Pietrus. There is no one out there to replace him who is as good, who can play d, hit threes, and loves this organization

It's kind of odd, Pietrus going on and on about wanting to come back and his agent claiming we don't have the means to sign him. Were all of his comments before we looked at Terry? I thought I read somewhere after that that Pietrus was very unlikely if we signed Ray as well.

Rumor has it that Golden State will go after Hickson. They were blocked from picking him up last year by Portland after he was released by Sacramento.

I believe the Celtics could offer 120% salary increases to anyone they had on their roster last season, including Wilcox. But I'm not 100% sure on that. In Pietrus' and Dooling's cases, those increased salaries would still amount to less than the BAE.

Yeah, I saw that and also thought it was an odd thing to volunteer.

With Terry here and with Moore developing, we don't need Dooling. Stiemsma can also go if he wants more money, we salvaged him from the NBDL scrap heap and he is a very limited player. I would sign Pietrus however, he loves to be here, and if healthy after his knee surgery, can be a great contributor. I would also look at signing Kwame Brown or Josh Howard.

I don't know, HP. If it comes down to Dooling or Moore for the final roster spot, I think I'd rather have a bona fide PG who can knock down the occasional 3 and play defense.

Would certainly love to have Pietrus back (if he's healthy), and wouldn't mind a guy like Brown as a backup C.

People just don't seem to realize how goid Gerald Green has become & tapped into his potential. He was the D-Leagues best player by far last year & averaging over 27ppg as a starter on what was the best team in the D-League. He countered that with great production in limited minutes with NJ averaging 14 of the bench & pretty played solid defense. I would definitely like him spelling Bradley & Pierce playing 25-30 mins a game running & gunning with Rondo,Bradley & Jeff Green. That's a really good open court fast paced team with those 4. And he is yet another capable Pierce replacement longterm & a guy I think could be a top 10 scorer on a per game basis if handed the reigns to let loose in the future 2 years down the line. But in the present a perfect fit for our current team & mainly Rondo & the struggling offense. Unlike Ray of now, GG can create his own offense & spot up just as well at this point.
