* Ray isn't really going to make Miami any different then what they are. Its a Lebron/Wade/Bosh driven team surrounded with 3pt shooters. Granted one of them now is one of the most cold blooded shooters but now they can't fill their gaping hole at center. No Camby no Kaman. More of Anthony and Haslem.
* The Heat just locked themselves up with another long term contract for an aging player coming off ankle surgery. What goes unnoticed is that Miami may be the oldest team in the NBA. Wade, Ray, Haslem, Miller, Anthony, Battier, and Jones are all well in their 30s.
* Now the really exciting part, Avery Bradley. Instead of 20-25 mpg, He'll get 35 full starter minutes. He and Rondo together makes us now the fastest backcourt in the NBA. When he gets full starter minutes he can be a 20ppg scorer in this league and a potential all-star.
* Everyone wanted us to get younger, well here you go. Rondo, Bradley, Green, Bass, Sullinger, and maybe Stiemsma should all see significant minutes by year's end. Who knows, Melo might also join them. Only KG, Pierce, and Terry would be considered old. DA now has young trade assets to work with. Last time he had young assets he flipped them for KG and Ray.
* We still match up very well with Miami. KG defends Bosh as well as anyone and Avery defends Wade as well as anyone. In the playoffs, since we didn't have Avery, we had to protect Ray defensively by focusing our help on Wade. Now with Avery on Wade, our help can now focus on Lebron. What Ainge has done is made us a very very good small ball team. Small ball is Miami's strength. so even if Miami puts its best players on the court (Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Ray, Chalmers) we have that covered (PP, Avery, KG, Rondo, Terry). Bottom line is Miami had no answer defensively for Rondo and they haven't addressed it this offseason.
* Rondo is more like Kobe then we realize. Kobe was blamed for running Shaq out of LA much like how Rondo will be blamed for running Ray out of Boston. Kobe shouldered the blame, took ownership of the team and the rest is history. We all know Rondo, like Kobe, plays his best when he has something to prove. I think he takes this team on his shoulders and will win the MVP this year. Yup you heard me...MVP for Rondo. I see 17ppg 6rpg 12apg 2.5spg and 10+ triple doubles. I saw an article on a website that ranked the top 100 players for next year and Rondo was ranked 3rd behind Lebron (1) and Durant(2) but they had Rondo winning the MVP. I don't think its as far fetched as it sounds. After this years playoffs he is certainly a Top 10 player going into next year.
I refuse to hate on Ray. He was all class while he was here and we won a title and made deep playoff runs. Without him none of that happens. Extremely disappointed but nevertheless thankful for his years of service. Good luck Ray but why couldn't you have gone to the Bulls to play for Thibs...I'd actually root for you if you went there.
