All Purpose Ray Allen Venting Thread (merged)

This is all I have heard on this board for a while.  Has anyone ever thought that perhaps the petulant Rajon Rondo is really the true professional here and not the thin-skinned Ray Allen?  Perhaps Rondo got tired of Ray's utter lack of effort on the defensive side of the ball when he is busting his butt to be an All-NBA defender.

I realize that this is heresy to some and I am ready to take the hits on this, but Ray has always been a weird and quirky man with all his obsessive-compulsive issues.

Oh Ray, so you got your little feelings hurt by almost being traded for OJ Mayo.  You should have taken it as an honor that an old, rather defenseless, 36-year-old could almost bring in a fairly highly sought after Mayo.  The NBA is a business and it was and still is Danny's business to do what he thinks is best for his company, the Boston Celtics, not what is best for Ray Allen! 

I cannot wait for the Celtics to put the Heat out in 2013.  I simply cannot wait.  I cannot wait to see Rondo vs. Allen in the Eastern Conference Finals.

I admit it ... I have called him this, because I truly believed it.

Clearly things have changed, and along with them my opinion.

I still believe he's a good person ultimately, but I highly question his motivations and the way he went about this.

Very, very disappointing, and he's dropped on my list about a hundred-or-so places, (and nearing the top of that other list).

I still believe he is a Consummate Professional.

But the fact is that bad things happen in sports.

First of all, I LOVE BOS...been a fan since 1981, and will be fan until 2081. Bleed Green, you name it.

But Players are people, too. As much as I respected (and still do!) DA for the Perk trade, look how THAT trade divided the blog.

You just can't pay someone a million dollars and expect them to skin and grin the whole time.

I don't necessarily agree with why/how Ray left, and his reasoning, but I certainly understand it.

I'll be cheering AGAINST RAY when we play MIA, but the other 70 or so games MIA has, I hope the best for him - and his family.

They are ALL stable now...Ray won't have to worry about potential trades and uprooting his family.

He was, after all, the most "Traded" player we've had over the last few years.

Rondo is way younger and still is lazier than Ray Allen on defense....its not a shocker hes known as a NATIONAL TV PLAYER

A trade is what got ray here. Classy vets need to be able to handle trade rumors and difficult teammates.  See #9 and #34 for proof.

Git over it fellas, Ray Ray is outta heah! Aint nothing stopping him for pursuing other basketball opportunities. Besides, James Jones and Mario Chalmers are better than Ray Allen at this point and we may never hear from Ray Allen again. Bone Spurs are never a good thing and it is a blessing that we are under the luxury tax threshold and have the ability to improve in other areas of our game like defense and rebounding plus scoring in transition and on the blocks.  Jason Terry, Avery Bradley, Jeff Green is our meal ticket, not that sniper Ray Allen.

P.S. I will never understand how Ray could be a slightly above average defender when guarding ONE guy in the league, Kobe, but a far below average defender against everyone else.  I would definitely say that is about EFFORT and getting up for Kobe, but NOT for other SG's!

Basketball is a business and Ray Allen is going what he thinks is best for Ray Allen. I don't begrudge him that. It would have been nice to have him back but he was a large contributor in the Celtics winning another championship. Once the emotion dies down, that's what I'll remember Ray Allen for.

I have to agree I won't say I hate him but I don't like him anymore. I will gladly boo his ass and for them to lose as well.

First off, I will forever appreciate what Ray did for over the last 5 yrs, especially the 2007-08 title team.

With that said, I don't feel bad about about this for a variety of reasons and I have absolutely no qualms ab booing the absolute crap out of the guy. All this consummate pro stuff is BS.

This was not comparable to Damon, Clemens, etc. because, in this situation, the Boston team actually paid more $$.

He sold out for a title, which is weird considering the fact that most people who do this have never won a title in the first place, and thus we understand their desperation.

He put his legacy in the city on the line with his decision and now it's gone.

He sacrificed 2x the annual salary he would have made here.

He sacrificed more playing time because D. Wade is a more proven player than AB at the 2 spot.

With all this said, I now equate Ray as a mercenary or a man without a country. With his career spread basically evenly amongst Milwaukee, Seattle, and Boston, he could have taken this opportunity to solidify his identity with one franchise -- the Celtics. Instead, he threw it all away. I feel like very few would have came to the conclusion he did when you lay all the chips on the table. That's what makes me so confused/angry.
