Absolutely! We're going to be looked at as a 2nd tier destination or worst case 3rd tier...this is why Danny should have heeded his own advice and just blew it up...

LET'S GO CELTICS!

i don't believe it hurts at all.  ray jumped ship because he still thinks its about him.

the next pieces to fall into place will come after wednesday when da can begin trading.  i believe he has something up his sleeve with a big move.  there is still the josh smith topic out there and since bass is signed (don't know about when he can be traded) might be a s&t target.

Jet rushed at the opportunity to sign with the Boston Celtics.  Also, all the free agents who were with this team last year seem to be genuinely falling all over themselves for the opportunity to get to call themselves Celtics for another year.  Kevin Garnett is of course the biggie, but Bass and Green clearly always saw Boston as their first choice.

I'm also convinced that role players like Mickael Pietrus, Chris Wilcox, and Keyon Dooling are sitting by their phones like anxious, love struck teenagers waiting for Danny's call.

The Celtics are clearly a desirable destination for the right players.  I guess, in the end, Ray Allen really just wasn't a Celtic at heart.  We'll be fine.  Enjoy the sunshine, Ray.

This.

Ray is in the recent minority on this.  TA too for that matter.

KG resigned.  Green stuck with the team and is close to resigning.  Bass resigned.  JET signed here.  Pietrus, Wilcox and Steimsma would like to return here.  Sheed signed here.  Shaq signed here.  JO signed here.  Perk didn't want to leave here.

Rondo's pass-first mentality is attractive to players that want to win and get the ball if they hustle on offense.  Also, how do players listening to the Boston fans chant "Let's go Celtics" after watching their team lay a huge egg in Game 6 against Miami not want to play for fans like that.

RAY and TA (and BBD too but via trade) leaving was more about their personal wants than about winning and team play.  guys that want to win want to be in Boston.  guys that only care about their personal stats & money will go elsewhere.

Boston had never been a to top FA destination.  Please name me Boston's biggest acquisition from the free agent market in the history of the team.  You could argue it is Jason Terry or Rasheed Wallace.

Boston has always got their players from trades or drafting. Nothing will change.

Ask Jason Terry that question? ;)

Jason Terry said in an interview part of his reason for signing with us is that we have Rondo... if a player doesn't want to play here because we have Rondo, forget them. Their loss. I'll take guys like the Jet here

That's all fine and dandy, but I'll hinge Jared Sullinger's potential on recruiting young superstars more than Jet.

You missed our point.  It wasn't that Jason Terry will recruit the players, it was that HE was "recruited" here. He is a top flight scorer and is comfortable coing off the bench plus he did have many other options and chose to come here.  Terry chose us even though by all accounts Ray wasn't coming back or at least it was a long shot...

When was the last time we had a big chunk of cap space to target big name free agents? Go ahead and figure it out, I'll wait.

We've been restricted to the MLE for awhile now - yet we always seem to get our MLE target.
