I can understand him but I am very disappointed.
Yes this hurts because I just can't seem to understand why you would help add on to your rivals legacy as a big 3 and possibly give them more championships as a big 3 than yours in Boston.
I know KG must be angry along with Paul and Doc and I have a feeling Rondo doesn't care either way because their relationship was strained.
I also hope he doesn't expect all of the fans in Boston to welcome him with open arms. To many this is considered a back stabbing and traitor move.

I just don't get it.

Yes, Rondo's a pain.  Yes, DA tried to trade him.  Yes, he's always been third fiddle here.

But why Miami?

I could understand if they didn't win it all and he saw himself as the missing piece.  But all he does now is tarnish his legacy by making himself some sort of coattail rider to a second title.  They won it without him last year.  What pride could he possibly get for Part 2?

Furthermore, Boston could offer him double the money and likely a starting role (if Bradley starts the year on the IR).  I don't know what Miami told him, but unless they plan on playing Wade at the 1 or 3 (and consequently shifting others around), how is Ray going to start?

Again, it's not so much that I'm appalled he left, I just can't understand how he thinks Miami is a good choice, and I'm not even talking about how much I hate the Heat.

the only thing I can think of is that Rondo pulled a Delonte

Don't understand how he can hate Rondo this much to destroy his legacy and take half the money ?

If he thinks Rondo is childish , just wait til he get to Miami and is greeted by Dwayne Wade with no lens' in his glasses and Lebron James pulling out a book and pretending to read every time a camera is on him

This really makes me sick to my stomach

Worse than Johnny Damon to the Yanks
Worse than Clemens to the Yanks
Worse than Vinateri to the Colts

They actually went for the money to a better situation.

-Ray demanded us to pay him 27mil for 3 yrs or he was leaving . No one else was even coming close to that and we still offered the most of any team .

-He would have started until at least december and most likely the whole year with Bradley coming back from injury and being a better combo with Terry coming off the bench .

- He could have cemented his legacy by winning another title and beating the hated heat and have his number retired for doing so

He isn't going to be getting more mins to come off the bench for the heat , like I said he would be starting for most if not all season for us.

Wow what a traitor punk

He'll be known as a legend there, considering most of their fans believe that Ray Allen was drafted by the Boston Celtics since they've been fans since 2010

A couple things:

Ray, thanks so much for helping win that ring in 2008. That was such an incredible run and gave me so many happy moments.

He is a first ballot HOF'er. He wasn't under contract and was free to do as he pleases. People talk about loyalty and all that bull. This is a business. Danny, who I love as a GM, never showed any loyalty to Ray during his time here. Ray needs to do what is best for him. Why wouldn't he go to the Heat where he'd get to play more on a better team?

Nobody here took issues with players that took paycuts to get a ring - KG? Posey? Or vet players that would be considered "coat tail riders (PJ Brown? Cassell) We are mad because he didn't do it with us.

He played his heart out for us and we are mad at him for leaving as a free agent? Jeez, get a grip. All he owed us was to play his heart out for us when he was under contract for us. And he did - often times carrying this team.

He deserves a standing ovation when he comes back. He was a key part of our first title in decades. He was the reason KG came. Let's all step back and get a grip.

so u talk half da money ignore a no trade close nd disregard a startin spot to ring chase nd get spot minutes off da bench. Appreciate his 5 years here but from now on Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. Ray Allen

I think that in time, most here will agree.

posey and kg didn't leave teams that were ECF and didn't badmouth their teammates to the media behind their backs.

ray allen is classless and should be booed,

I'm glad he didn't resign here, not sure he was great fit anyways anymore, just the lack of class was disapointing.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It hurts more because of the history we've got with Ray.
Facts before heart- he was being paid a lot by getting 6 million and he got a little greedy in some respects.
I guess he wants another championship and feels it's his best shot in Miami.
I think it's great to see a player go for a ring instead of the money- he truly loves the game and he wants to win. His best chance really is with Miami.
With Bradley and Terry here he's arguably the 3rd string shooting guard on the Celtics- he figures he can get a change and plenty of open threes on the Heat, whilst not having to deal with Rondo.
Sad day for Celtics fans but Ray's just doing what Ray loves- trying to win basketball games. I guess making 150 ish million in his life is enough money for now.
We'll see him in the playoffs and it'll be fun.
Can't wait to see Bradley guarding Ray.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

ray asked for more than we can afford at this point. And then accepted waaay less to play for the team that just beat us in the playoffs.
Oh, its personal.
