I want to apologize to all the posters who think im just defending Ray to the ends of time. Which for the most part I am.
To put my reasoning into persepective, i just want to share how i look at things.
Being a fan of Ray since his college days ive pretty much been a fan of his FIRST. Most are TEAM fans.
When Ray Allen is doing bad, i kinda feel like hes letting the team down, when he is doing well i feel great...OBVIOUSLY. I think fans of players share this as well.
When i come on the board and see threads where RAY ALLEN should be traded, that he sucks, that he costs the team, and constant scapegoat player. Obviously im going to somewhat be hurt that people are saying this and im going to defend RAY.
Over the years, when Ray hit big shots, it was great to see him winning fans over, because in Seattle and Milwaukee, he didnt get too much respect for his game and hard work.
Over the years coming here, fans have soured on Ray, and even wanted him gone, wanted his spot taken over by the up and coming youngster. Wanted Pietrus in his place. Said he couldnt play ANY Defense, and that players like NOVAK were better than him at this stage.
I started to hate the board.
You must realize that even though some of these could be right, I still believe in Ray Allen, that he can start, that he can win games, that he can play good defense when matched up correctly. That he opens it up for others and makes the offense a lot better. I still think he can do this STARTING and having Bradley come off the bench.
I still also think Bradley starting is a great option too.....
BUT hidden in that is that I still want Ray to start.
So you see, many of you are going to blast me for my screename being RAYALLEN1934 and just sticking up for him for no reason...
But Maybe im just looking at it like he would if he was HERE himself on this board. Seeing things from a perspective of the fans on this board.
Maybe I feel like Ray would be more appreciated from the Best Player in the world, and a top 5 Guard in Dwayne Wade...Pat Riley.....
It sort of does feel good that I see being RE-APPRECIATED again, and not just wanted to fill in a back up role when Bradley comes back
Maybe I see Terry, Green, and Bradley, and I say man, maybe HES NOT IMPORTANT anymore, thoese shots, the ring, the clutch layup, the overtime games. Maybe it means nothing now because we got a young buck to take over and start a new page, but still Garnett and Pierce, the guys he rode with are still looked upon as the GUYS.
Make no mistake, I want Ray to stay, and I will be really dissapointed if he leaves this great Franchise. I will hate it if he does to the point I will not want to watch the games.
But being a DIE HARD Allen fan, maybe you can see it as Ray would.
I think lately , if you have been a huge Ray Allen fan, its starting to feel like your FAVORITE player is becoming a thing of the past, and a thing to replace. Maybe its time to move on.
