I am just hoping the Miami gets tired of waiting and offers their mini MLE to Camby or Lewis then Ray comes back to us.
If they are setting up all these meetings with them that probably means they aren't optimistic about him going there

  • It's all about the TEAM!
Sign me up as someone who also thinks Ray is "torn" and left without making a decision as a good sign for the Celtics.

Ray might have went there with every intention of wanting to hear the Heat say the right things and he would be ready to sign before he started to head home, but maybe when he got there he started getting the creepies about negotiating with the enemy and it just didn't "feel" right. And now for once, he's hearing "The Celtics" legacy calling him home.

I don't think we are out of the woods yet, but I do think we are one good round of talking to from management (Danny, Doc) and a few of the players (KG, Pierce) and letting him feel WANTED from seeing Ray resign with us. I really think he's just had his ego and feelings hurt and Ray really wants to feel wanted.

It's time to show Ray some Love so he will re-sign with us!

I don't think it's impossible he will leave us, but I FEEL like if he was going to join the Heat, ESPN would be talking nonstop about it already.

I hope Shannon Allen is on our side.

Did CSNNE renew her cooking show?

Also great news that Ray has left Miami without a contract, coming back to Boston means everybody here can influence him.
Ray doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would let some one else influence his decision...he seems like the kind of guy who will consider what is best for himself and his family to make his decision.

I've always assumed he'd look like this if you shaved that Gordon Gecco hairdo off.

So MIA is looking at other options for the mini-MLE? Now I want Ray to take as long as he needs.

Could it be possible that MIA would go for another player (Camby, or whomever) before Ray makes his decision officially? If they sense he's more inclined to BOS?

My most recent thoughts regarding Allen...

1. Some people aren't really acknowledging how hard of a decision this is for him. He's obviously loved playing in Boston; he's loved his teammates and his fans. However, there's something pushing him to Miami, whether it's his dislike for Rondo, his desire to not worry about being traded, or something else. He's very clearly having a hard time picking, and I think we need to respect that and give him time.

2. The first call that Heat executives made (12:01 am on July 1) was to Rashard Lewis, NOT Ray Allen. Many people (myself included) believed that Ray was the Heat's first choice, but it's very likely that LBJ and Wade just wanted him and Riley played along. Yes, if it's true, it's more immaturity from those two, but I've stopped expecting anything else. This could sway Ray's decision towards the Celtics.

3. Hopefully, Pierce and KG are whispering in Allen's ear, and Rondo is keeping his mouth shut. Sure, Rondo (plus AB, and maybe Green and Sully) is the future of the team, but this is not the future. As many people have said, we're playing to win NOW.

4. I hope that DA is not being too occupied with Ray that we miss out on some other key signings, like a veteran center. I trust him to distribute his time evenly though.

For now, I'm just patiently (and painfully) waiting. I want Ray to come home, but I'll eventually come to terms with it if he doesn't.

Given Avery Bradley's rise, Jason Terry signing and Jeff Green returning ... I think Ray Allen is being pushed into a 20 minute a night role here in Boston.

With Miami offering Ray Allen a major role, presumably 30+ minutes a night (either as a starter or as sixth man), I can see the draw in that for him. It's a much larger role.
