You know its just gotten ridiculous. So he was trade bait. Is he not bright enough and is he so supersensitive that he can't see he was almost traded but he WAS NOT TRADED.

Hey Ray: You were NOT traded!

Perk got traded!

Da risked a team meltdown on that one and Rajon did indeed melt down. But Ray was NOT traded. Almost doesn't count Ray! Hey, I get that DA really should put a no trade clause in the contract now and if not, Ray should be looking. But if he can get that clause and more money staying here, its just absurd to leave. We will have as good a chance as Mia next year the way things are shaping up.

1) He won't be trade fodder, which he will be if he resigns with us (and I prefer it that way.)

2) He is guaranteed to be on a Top 3 team in the East, with a perennial shot at the NBA Finals.

3) He gets to play with one of the best passers in the game in Lebron.

4) He gets to play with two guys who are constantly double-teamed (Lebron, Wade), which will lead to many open 3s.

5) No Rondo.

6) No Danny Ainge.

7) No snow or cold weather.

8) No state taxes.

9) And if he really hates Boston because of the trade offers, he gets to play for the Celtics' most-hated in-conference rival at the moment, and he gets to prevent them from going to the Finals (I don't believe #9 applies, but hey you never know.)

I like #9, never thought of that...

If Ray signs with the Heat:

1. Chance to get back at Celtics because of perceived slight (not starting, trade bait).

2. May think Heat have a better chance to win championship.

3. LeBron's commitment to include Ray in commercial opportunities in order to make up the difference in salary.

Can the Clippers offer him the MLE or the mini MLE? If it is the full, consider me surprised he isn't taking their offer more seriously. That's what he wants right? More money, a chance to contend, and to start. Although Miami is clearly the better team I can't see him playing a big role.

I have a feeling Ray Allen is gonna do what he expected David West to do last season - take less money and get a legitimate shot at a championship ring. Ray is gonna get a lot of love from Miami on thursday and this feeling of being "embraced" and liked not only by the fans but from Lebron himself (did you guys see his tweet with ray wearing a #20 Heat jersey) just might make Ray commit to the Heat.  I hope KG and PP go out of their way to prevent this from happening.

  • You say when......
We dn't want Ray to go there....he would be too good a replacement for miller...BUT, he won't start there....or get more playing time than Boston...I doubt. He should go to the Clippers....starter, $$$, and away from our concerns..!

I'm ok with Miami deciding that they need to use their exception on yet another wing and keep filling their big rotation with minimum salary guys.

I don't know how I feel...I'm happy for Ray to get a ring opportunity but I wish he'd commit to the Clippers instead and keep some dignity...oh well best of luck in LeBron town...sign Gerald Green as our extra wing and lets get some more youth

Danny is smart and he knows we can't go into the season with a guard rotation consisting of no one taller than 6'2". Depending on what they have earmarked for Green, Danny has some wiggle room and can offer Ray more if needed. I believe DA is holding the trade kicker and an extra 1 million in his back pocket for the counter (after Ray visits the Clips).

DA is holding all the cards over the Clips and Heat because he knows exactly what the two most attractive teams to Ray have to offer. They can't blow him away with an offer because he knows what he is going to get from them. If needed DA has a counter and if Ray leaves its because he wants to leave. Doc will tell Ray that he will be assured a starting position when the season opens and its his to lose while Avery is recovering from shoulder surgery.

Last point, the media has been all over the relationship between Ray and Rondo. I hope they have talked it over like grown men and is a non issue now.
