6.5m a season for a young big man? Fire your agent Hawes, this was your chance to make at the very least 32 million over four years.

That's a good deal for Philly! I thought at least 36 million over 4 years would have been the going rate. For 6.5 million per year, I am a little surprised the Celtics didn't get in on it. It's a short contract and isn't outrageous money.

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
Pretty surprising, I had him at the top of the soon to be overpaid list.

Well, this gives me some hope that the C's can retain Bass on shorter years and shorter money than he would probably like.

I think the deal is very fair. Other big men are getting paid wayyy too much recently. This to me seems about right.

But if other big men are getting so much more, how is this fair/right?

Wow thats it? In terms of a contract that is incredibly fair for Hawes, however in todays market compared to what other players and centers, cough Asik cough, are getting, thats is a steal for the 76ers.

Maybe Hawes is being reasonable and wants his team to contend by not asking for a bloated contract? Naw his agent sucks.
Signed to a 6 year $0 contract with the Celtics Blog forum!

He might have a red flag from his Achilles injury. Otherwise it seems pretty cheap.

Or he really might want to stay in Philly for the time being and this is what they could work out.

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Seems about right for a guy re-signing with his current team.  You always get more when a team has to overpay to sign you.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Welp. He is both young, as well as big.

Except now, if he can build on the way he started last season, he can make MUCH more than that.  I am a little surprised he signed a 2 year deal and not 1 year (I wonder if there was an option), but clearly this is a case of a guy who found himself on the bottom of the ladder of a deep group of young, FA centers, coming off a very disappointing end to the season where he fought with injuries and underperformed.

So, he knows that, if he continues to improve at the rate he has been, and continues to add to his frame, that in a couple years, he won't be looking at 4 year/$32 million deals, he will be looking at max type offers.

It's a calculated risk, but given his age and skill level, I think its a smart one.  He is making enough in this contract to be set for life.  Now he is working towards the contract that will make his entire extended family and great grandchildren set for life.

Yeah I'm suprised that Liberty Ballers were so upset over a pretty cheap deal for a big that they had "an emergency podcast".

I don't see why a S&T isn't possible?

The 76ers are not loaded at the 4. LaVoy Allen is not a starter, they only played him as a starter in our series because KG was thrashing them. Moutrie is a rookie and I can't see a playoff team playing him as a starter. The 76ers might amnesty Brand, so they obviously don't see him as their future 4.

Brandon Bass would give the 76ers a good, young PF who can shoot, spread the floor and go big to the basket.

I still feel like this is a doable win-win for both teams.
