Next up for Atlanta? Trading Josh Smith. He felt the team wasn't committed BEFORE the Joe Johnson trade. Now, there's no doubt he wants out.

We have to trade for Smith now if we are ever going to land him. We have no cap space for the next few years so it has to come through a trade. Danny already offered KG last year , but was stupidly turned down. You know the c's want smith bad and Smith wants Boston  .

Bos sends: Bradley, Bass,Melo and future 1st
Atl sends : Smith

Atl has no leverage here because Smith decides who he wants to resign with . No team is going to give up a bunch of their trade chips if they don't know if they can sign him ....

That trade just isn't worth it to me, too much for my taste for a guy like Smith.

Does anyone else think that is too much?

For me, it's Avery Bradley's inclusion in the deal. I think you need to either take Bradley out or put less in the deal alongside him.

Yeah, that deal just doesn't sit well with me.

I'll counter by keeping Melo and the future 1st and instead sending Atl future 2nd. When you consider what Atlanta received for Johnson, receiving Bass, Bradley, and a 2nd, for what will be a disgruntled Smith, will look like they hit the jackpot.

I'd do JJ, Bass, Stiemsma and future first for Smith.  I could like with a post big 3 starting 5 of Rondo/AB/Green/ Smith/Melo (If he develops.)

Do those salaries even match up? It's apparent we aren't renouncing Ray or Green. Thus salaries have to match up closely.

I wonder if we could Sign and Trade Krstic to them. Then Horford could move to PF.

It's why I threw Stiemsma in, sign and trade him for whatever makes up the difference. But JJ and Bradley were drafted in similar spots and Stiemsma and Melo make similar money.

We can't sign and trade Nads, unfortunately. I'm actually not sure if any of the proposed trades in this thread would match up properly. I think it's time to accept Smith isn't coming here.

Why would Atlanta want to give a limited player like Bass a large multi-year deal when they are in the midst of blowing things up?

I'd move Bass + a future first + JJJ + E'Twuan (can we trade him before the 2nd year on his deal becomes official?)

I'd try to hold on to AB, but I realize it might not be possible.

Yeah that doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

I'm not sure how we can come up with the salary to match to allow for a Josh Smith trade.

you could always get a 3rd team involved with Bass going to them and expiring contracts going to atl along with Bradley and a pick maybe ?

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but doesn't KG want to go back to PF? That doesn't leave room for Smith, whom I assume would expect a starting gig.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

You're right. Same as Green he didn't play at all next season. Good call. Yeah a Smith deal would be very hard to pull off unless Atlanta wants Pietrus.
