Throws a wrench into getting Howard.

And is Johnson and Wallace enough to keep Williams?

With Lopez?

I mean is that better then just playing with Dirk?

looks like atlanta is going to suck it up for a year and stink. What they are getting from the Nets is trash..

hawks looking to rebuild totally next summer...

And why does the east look more and more like a 2 team race between boston and miami?

-The bulls won't have D rose until the All Star break
-Atlanta is taking on the Nets junk
-Rumor is the pacers won't match portland on hibbert
-Philly has a glut of wings
-and the knicks are the knicks

Wow, I actually really like this deal for NJ.  Joe J is overpaid but still really good and I think a very good complement for Deron Williams.  I am also a very big DW fan.  They need some depth at PF/C but who doesn't.  I think this puts NJ right in the mix.

Nets replace Hawks as a middle of the road playoff team. Hawks dump a terrible contract.

Atlantic division is getting pretty good.

Men. I'm not impressed.

Wallace is at the tail end of his career, and I don't think Lopez will ever pan out. This team's future looked A LOT better two years ago.

Yep. This is what it looks like when you put all of your hopes into clearing cap space and the plan backfires. Cautionary tale.

I'm not sure that's the tale. The cautionary tale is, don't give up a lottery pick for Gerald Wallace because Gerald Wallace isn't that great anymore, and besides is a free agent in the offseason and you'll have to way overpay to retain him.

I don't think Billionaire Russian really cares about the luxury tax even if it is much harsher then before.

People will pay to see this team in Brooklyn. Can't wait to see Brooklyn vs the Knicks if Deron stays.

Plus Nash is likely going to be a Knick.

Would this entail giving up on Howard?  Or do they think they can bring him in for Lopez, Brooks and their own pick?
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

The rumor is if the Pacers don't match for Hibbert then they have a deal worked out with Kaman, who's been as productive as Hibbert...

Depends if any team will take Dwight without the extension. Think about the Carmelo saga with NY a couple years ago.

It doesn't matter how much money he has, it's about how much cap Wallace is going to take up and how untradeable that contract will be in a season or two.

I won't pretend to know much about the draft class, but my guess is that at this stage in the game you could probably get similar production to what Wallace will give you out of the #5 pick in the draft, who again, isn't going to eat 10 million dollars off your cap.

Nope.

Not to mention I think Dallas can create room next year for Howard still.

Great deal for the Hawks who would gain some flexibility instead of being locked into mediocrity with Johnson's contract. They'd be free to build around Horford and possibly Smith. Brooklyn, on the other hand, is desperate it's a lose lose not matter what. If Deron leaves they remain terrible with a boatload of cash they must spend in this crappy free-agent market. If he stays they are stuck as a fringe second round team contending for nothing.

Need a fifth starter. An average to slightly above average PF.

And a strong bench.

That negative voice in my head is telling me that Howard ends up in LA for pennies on the dollar.   Of course, they give up Bynum, but Magic may now be forced to cough up something to make LA bite (talk about a turnaround).  Magic should be highly motivated to dump DH.
