Seems dallas is interested in bass and allen, if so I wouldn't mind getting marion and terry back from them, with terry getting close to around what the c's offered ray 6 mill 2 years. Other option could be getting haywood/carter back and some picks.

Not interested in the slightest in Marion's contract.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

Honestly I'd much rather Ray Allen or Jason Terry + Jeff Green, don't see the need to take Marion off their hands unless we lose Jeff to another team. I'd ask them to throw in something else to sweeten it.

Marion is only on the books for one more year so if we don't have Jeff there might not be too many other options at reserve small forward back up for Pierce- and we NEED one this year to have a chance at going all the way.

Would only do this if we lost Green and couldn't find decent Pierce back up. But for 9 million there's probably other options.
Doubtful it sees the light of day.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

you could play marion at the 4, marion would be a bass replacement, no reason why you couldn't bring back jeff, i prefer marion to bass, his an ideal guy to match on star forwards such as lebron and durrant, when they go small which was done frequently in the finals. It lifts a load off paul.

btw dollar wise it's close marion is on the books for 8.4 and 9 mill next two season while bass will want something like 6.5 and 7.0 mill next two years, i rather pay that extra 4 mill next two years for marion as bass is a free agent and most likely wanting a 3 or 4 year deal for even more money

Source? Not a bad deal for either team, but this only makes sense if DWill doesn't sign as the Mavs can't do it if he does as they have to renounce their free agents and IIRC amnesty Haywood.

Haywood/carter? WT_ would anyone do that?

yeah can't see this happening if dwill goes to the mavs.

marc spears twitter feed has dal interested in both allen and bass

I like haywood his a decent big man, and his contract would run the same lenght as kg and would rather pay him 8-9 mill for 3 years than bass 6-7 mill for 4 years and at the same time probably add some picks for doing it, plus vince is not an awful swing for a 1 year 3.1 contract, and him and terry in the same backcourt rotation makes more sense than allen, rondo, bradley and terry as ainge is trying currently, I would also try to pieces to the deal like swaping jjj for brendan and inculding terry in the deal, therefore saving the MLE for a big. But saying all that i would much rather get marion than haywood

I don't see the value in this trade for Dallas.

Marion and Terry offer them more than Ray and Bass would.
