Greg only produced for one half season and is pretty "old" for a prospect at 27. I think there is a good chance another team takes a chance on him, but it won't be for huge money.

There's no deny'ng Omer's rebounding and defensive talent, but he is a terrible cook.

Nowhere near Asik money, but the question is whether it'll be for more than the C's can reasonably offer.

A shame if it is.

Well a lot depends on if we "hit" with our MLE on one of the name FAs. (Camby/Terry/etc.)

Then Greg could easily be out the door, but if we don't get any of those players I think we're likely to use a portion of the MLE to retain him.

As long as the C's are thinking old with Allen and/or Terry, I say forget Terry forget Steamer and use the $$$ for Camby for 15-20 minutes a game and get shot blocking and rebounding

Just to clarify, if Asik goes to Houston, they will be charged the average ($8.4-ish million) per year on the salary cap.  He would only have a $15m final year salary cap figure if Chicago matched.
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification. Very useful info.

That rule in the CBA has to change. It makes zero sense. The team signing the player to the offer gets to amortize the average yearly salary over the lebngth of the contract whereas the team that owns the players Bird Right's has to add to the cap the actual amount paid to the player each year? Really stupid loophole that punishes the team owning the Bird Right's of the RFA.

Asik is a second year player, they don't have his bird rights.

The fact that his first two years are restricted to MLE money already is a concession to his original team.

Whatever it is called. They get to match the offer. That's what I meant.
