  • GOT IT!!!
Seems KG is getting some flack for not taking less than $10 million. Those people must not have seen how well he played the majority of the season. They also don't understand what he brings to the team in terms of leadership. This is not just about winning a championship, it's about mentoring the younger guys and guiding them into the next era of the Celtics.

Yeah, I can't believe folks are complaining about the price tag.  $11 million a year for Kevin Garnett?!!!  The only guy in the league who is likely to rival his production per dollar amount next year is the point guard who will be feeding him the ball.

KG averaged 19ppg/10RPG in the playoffs on 49% shooting...nuff said.

forget the age, 11million$ for that sort of production is a steal...not to mention the development of our young big guys

No doubt.  People criticizing are either morons or ignorant of the facts.

Since I'm one of the guys who said the price was steep, I should clarify.  I don't think KG is overpaid by any means, I was just hoping we could get him for less so we'd have more flexibility for free agents.

But I'm stoked KG is coming back no matter what the price (well, max deal might be pushing it).  One of my top 3 favorite Cs of all time, and a great mentor for our rookies.  Great news to start the weekend.

I agree with everything you said here 100%.

Had we decided to go the FA route by renouncing our own FA's, 11m for KG would have been difficult to swallow.

What this signals to me is, a clear sign we will not be renouncing anyone and instead trying to bring back as many of our own guys as possible.  Under this plan, we still will have the full MLE and bi-annual exception.  So yeah, KG getting 11m per under these circumstances is plenty fair.

Thank you! If Deandre Jordan gets paid 11 million to sit on the bench during the 4th quarter for the Clippers, 11 million is a good price for KG.

I think you are right.  I think it does signify that, which is what I was always hoping for.

Danny did the right thing here.  If he tried to low ball KG too much with like a 6 or 7 million dollar per year offer, KG would have shared a few of his infamous expletives and stormed off feeling disgusted, as well he should have.

3 years, $34 million apparently.  Pretty steep tag but it's worth it in my eyes.
I think that makes Danny a lot more likely to offer Bass a multi-year deal too.

With Sullinger and JJJ on the rookie scale (and both with similar skill-sets/limitations), Bass is going to a prime candidate for trade if he returns, so I hope it's the kind of multi-year deal that will hold some appeal in trades.  Either that or a large single year deal (similar to the one Landry got from NO).
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls
