Dude - That is an awful draft.  Sullinger is a big baby clone who has a bad back.  He can't elevate and Fab reminds me of the PC center a decade ago called Kareem Shabazz.  Awful draft for Ainge!

Ainge is the best drafter in the game and neither are reaches by any means. Chill out a bit. If we'd taken Plumlee and Cunningham, could understand the angst a bit more. Overreacting to two seemingly sensible picks, even if they aren't the ones you would have preferred is ridiculous.

sully has 100 times the b ball IQ of baby davis....and he has a better skill set than baby.
He is also bigger, in much better shape, and a much better shooter.

He also has a bad back.
it didn't seem to bother him at Ohio State
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

BiG gravy Davis is only 6 -7 , and can barely dunk the ball ,  I don't see anything in common with Sullinger.  Thats a pretty poor comparison.  Sullinger reminds me of Danny Grainger who I can't stand  for being "SOFT".

I think Sullinger ,if they buy him decent shoes to fix his back, should be TONS better than Baby Davis *worthless) and most likely better overall than Brandon Bass.

He needs to muscle up a ton.  See , how he compares to JJJ.  May the best man win.

I don't hate it, I just think Sullinger is a win next year pick ( In which case I would have liked to see us take Doron Lamb) and Melo is a building pick ( in which case I would have liked to see us nab PJ III)

well Sully and johnson are 2 different players...Sully is a post four...johnson a stretch 4....and JJJ has been quoted as saying Sully was the toughest guy he has ever had to defend....JJJ played 4 years in the Big Ten

Sullinger is what, 20 y.o.? It's not like he's some senior without potential.

Melo also graded out as in the 98th percentile for post defense, a weakness of ours over the years.

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe

the melo pick was made for one reason....to show KG he doesn't have to play the 5 this season. I think this is what KG wanted inorder to return

I think he wanted a C to develop for post KG more than that

A Sullinger-JJJ-Melo frontline for the future has awesome potential.

For this year, it fixes our rebounding and low post issues.

Then tell KG that Stiemsma will be the starting center. He can do everything that Melo can do. Terrible draft pick

I meant post-Perk, I suppose. Bass and Davis both struggled against length. I suppose this isn't as big a deal nowadays, looking around the league, but it's always nice to be able to trot out two 7 foot low post defenders. And to have someone to give KG a break against guys like Howard.

Sullinger is better than Baby already. And isn't overweight he's listed at 6 ft 9 268 lbs. Royce White is listed at 6 ft 8 and at 261 lbs. No one is calling White overweight. Sully also has a 7 ft wingspan which Baby I don't think possesses. And on top of that he averaged 10 rebounds per game in college, and did it without elite athleticism, which is impressive in my opinion. He knows how to box out. And above all he doesn't have the diva personality that Davis has. I'll take Sullinger every time at that 21st spot.

Melo on the other hand... I just hope he is serviceable. And can block a few shots. Don't like the pick, but I'll live with it.
