I have been thinking about this exact thing ....ALOT ....

Right now as big as fan as I am of AB , I believe I would work a trade for ANderson Varejao.  I'm ducking as bullets wizz over my head.

IF ...BIG IF....you are planning on running the C's over pretty much the same makeup as last year.  Bring back, Allen,  Wilcox, Pietrus, Green , and Steamer. ..... then YES ....IF he stays  healthy.... I believe Vaejao (as I did last year) is the "KEY" to this team being one of the top 4 teams in the NBA and able to compete for the championship once again.

KG and RONDO are the Motor that makes the C's run.... Varejao would be the HI OCTANE gas to throw on their fire.

He would be an INSTANT impact player....on Defensive and offensive boards.

This play is the type that "KEEPS" runs and pace of the game up .......but then so does Bradley and Bradley can score his tail off .....so yeah its a GREAT question .

It makes perfect sence IF you only care about THIS YEAR , keeping KG and promising him a IMPACT BIG like Varejao.

If KG is comming back it isn't just to be "GOOD" he wants a team equipped to COMPETE THIS YEAR .

TO win #18 , sacrifice AB , picks and maybe other players to get a player who WOULD make your team a contender.

Put it another way....yes I would rather have AB in the long run hands down....but is the game not about doing all you can to win in the present?

IF you aren't willing to sacrifice certain pieces, to win TODAY , then WHY even bring back ALLEN , PP and KG...?

They WANT TO WIN IT ALL AGAIN ..NOW...

So basically if you want to keep all the young good pieces . draft picks your are telling KG to get lost? NO?

When was the last time he played a full season? 2010? 2009?

Not AB.  Not in a million years.

But, I'd trade a first-round pick in a heartbeat.  And, I'd probably throw in JJJ or Moore too.

Its a gamble , for sure , but I suspect its the type of move KG, Ray Allen and PP "EXPECT" DA to do .  IF he wants them ALL IN on another run , then you do what needs to be done to give them that chance.
Like this ...Either "LOAD UP" or  "BLOW UP" thats what Da is facing I suspect when he meets with the BIG THREE and wants their opinions.

KG wants to return with a purpose . Not just a fairwell tour.

So if DA does something radical like take AV and trade AB or worse even Rondo , I understand why... he thinks its the best way to get #18.

??? Would DA rent Dwight Howard for a kings ransom for just the opportunity to make another run with our BiG Three?

If this is DA's mindset ...then nothing is out of the question.

Afterall ..Its his job to put together a team to win Banners for Boston. I guess I might have to think different if I was in his shoes.  Riley put togethet one of the most convoluted teams ever to win ( and most ) of us hated it , but it worked.  Maybe this is the NEW stategy for winning ( DO WHATS necessaary, not whats popular.

I wonder what direction Cleveland is going in, if this is the case. Do they want to surround Irving with all young guys? Are they intending to move the 24th pick with AV? Do they want to move up to 2, and use another lottery pick as bait?

Golden State should do that trade if they can get rid of Biedrins in the process (to match salaries).

An Andrew Bogut, David Lee and Anderson Varejao trio would be an imposing big man unit. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Richard Jefferson, Dorell Wright and Brandon Rush. Add a backup PG. Nice squad.

I don't think so.

Using the cap space to absorb Varejao's contract will cost Boston too many of it's own free agents. At that point, the cost is very high. Bradly, #21, Bass, Jeff Green, maybe Ray Allen. Plus Wilcox and Stiemsma.

Varejao would be a big addition to the Celtics but not big enough to justify that. Not in the short term or as a long term piece (due to his age) when rebuilding further down the line.

I think any team would have to be crazy to do this.  Varejao and his current contract are not nearly worth a lottery pick in this draft.  It would have to be a contender absolutely desperate for a big man (who somehow has a lottery pick).  Even then, a lotto pick in this draft is a steep price.

no way.  bradley makes this team so much better.  if he were healthy for the semi-finals we would have beat miami and would be raising banner 18.
