Call me crazy but I think he wants Drummond... uconn kid has the potential to be a Bynum like player but the bust potential of Kwame. In the Celtics environment, coached by Doc and playing next to KG and Rondo, I think the Bynum part can come out. Therefore if hes picked, ill expect KG back and also be really happy with myself for getting it right haha

My pipe dream is MKG. I would love to see him in green.

But I am not sure we have assets to get #5 or #6.

We have the assets to get up that high, those assets just include Avery Bradley and/or Rondo, and I can't for the life of me understand why Danny would do that.

My guess is he is trying to package both firsts and either some of our high future 2nd rounders or a future first to move up to the 10-14 area.  I don't see him trading both picks to move up 5 spots (he said he wouldn't do that on WEEI.)

I just really hope we don't blow this thing up (meaning Rondo/Bradley) for an unknown commodity.

The top 5 is pretty much decided... Word is that Portland LOVES Damian Lillard at 6. That means Drummond drops to 7, owned by the Warriors who wants a veteran SF... The script is almost too perfect. I seriously hope Ainge is not looking to trade Pierce :'(

If that happens, KG has already told Ainge he is retiring.  (I have no clue if KG is retiring)

Yeah if he trades Pierce/Rondo that would tell me KG gave his answer.

If he trades Bradley I could easily see him as "selling high" for someone he thinks can be a true all-nba caliber guy to pair with Rondo.

That is the wild card.

Anyone think we were possibly one of these 5 offers to Charlotte for #2? if the MKG stuff is true

Yep.

If he trades Bradley:

-He feels Bradley has hit his high point
-He thinks Bradley's shoulder will continue to be a problem
-He thinks the Bradley/Rondo starting backcourt is not the future
-He loves someone else (most likely)

Not selling high necessarily, but he will always view AB for what he was, a later first-round pick.

That's how Danny rolls, he never really sees the person and always sees the underlying asset.  That's why he traded Perkins, who was a project, late 1st-round pick that worked out, for a lottery pick (Green) and another 1st round pick.

He is constantly trying to gather as many 'average' pieces to trade for a 'good' piece, then taking the 'good' pieces and going for the 'great' piece.  He knows you win in the NBA with generational talents, not a roster filled with solid rotation guys, or even borderline All-Stars.

Our generational talent is either retiring or will retire very soon (KG).  We have to replace that talent eventually.  We have Rondo, who is my favorite NBA player of the last 2 decades, but is he a generational talent, or even a top 10 player in the league?  I don't know.  And we need one of those to get Banner 18.

It's nearly impossible for this to happen, but if by the end of the night, Rondo, Bradley and MKG are all Celtics, I'd be bouncing off the walls.

One scenario where that just might work, but still an absolute pipe dream, and likely unrealistic:
1) The top 4 goes: Davis, Robinson, Beal, Barnes.
2) KG tells Ainge he's retiring.
3) Ainge offers Sacramento Pierce, 21 and 22 for 5 and Salmons.
4) Petrie gets so excited about getting rid of Salmons that he forgets he's nowhere near contending and thinks Pierce is a good fit.
5) Someone locks Daryl Morey in a closet somewhere and he can't beat the offer with Kyle Lowry.

I feel he trades Rondo and Pick #21 for Tyreke and Pick #5.

He then drafts Drummond at pick #5 and Tony Wroten at pick #22.

Bradley/Wroten
Evans
Pierce
KG
Drummond

It is a crazy deal and we take one last shot at the title, plus have 4 young players going forward.

There is no way in hell that we contend for a title with that lineup. Keeping Rondo is crucial in both rebuilding and reloading
