For me, I think it's not so much that I think something big is going to happen, but that I want something big to happen. When I stop and think about it, though, I don't know if I want something big to happen. At the trade deadline I was feeling like I wanted something earth-shaking to take place, but that's not what happened—and we almost made it to the Finals. I think I'm learning to be patient with these things.
At the very least, Boston gets two solid picks in tomorrow's draft, and as wjsy's flow chart (linked on the front page) makes clear, Danny is quite capable of turning good draft picks into great trades.
I realize that at some point we really will have to move on from the Big 3, but maybe that time's not yet here, not quite. I'm convinced that KG has at least one more solid year in him, and that a healthy Pierce is still one of the best SFs in the game. Even if Ray doesn't return, combine those other two with Rondo, Bradley, Stiemsma, a re-signed Green and/or a re-signed Bass or some other free-agent or trade acquisition, a couple of solid rooks and the possible emergence of 3J, and I think we're once again knocking on the Finals door.
