if he really wants to go to Miami i would do a sign and trade.

ray allen + second round pick

for

Shane battier and james jones

if that's even possible lol ^

Lets go simpler.  Ray for Chalmers.

He would be a good fit with Rondo and Bradley.

I'll be the first to say I am not Chalmers' biggest fan. Thinks he's far better than he actually is. Walks around with the swagger of a perennial all-star.

I agree his attitude is beyond his talent level but that is part of what makes him as good as he is.  He has never seen a big shot he is afraid of.

The bad part about Ray going to Miami...

He extends Wade's career. Wade can only play 32/33 mins in the regular season and now be fresh for the playoffs. Where he can showcase his great ability and his world class flopping.

Screamin A Smith said if Ray joins the Heat (and if they stay healthy) they win the next 2 championships.

Ugh

I can't stop lauging at the thought of how long Bron and Wade will tolerate those elaborate screen plays needed to get Ray an open shot now.  I imagine it would take until about the 2nd day of training camp for Ray to be told to just go stand in the corner and wait for someone to pass him the ball.

I kinda expected Ray Ray to choose between Miami and the Bulls. Wherever he goes I will support him BUT, will definitely make me hate Miami a bit more. Because I have so much respect for Ray Allen, if he goes to Miami, I bet we're going to hear things like "We stole Ray Allen from you guys". But as most of you said, Miami is probably his shortcut to another ring.

If we can do a sign + trade, at least we're not losing him for nothing. But I keep hearing Chalmer's name in some scenario. Are you guys sure that Miami want to trade him. He is improving as a role player and steps up in times during the Finals. James Jones seems more legit and I don't think they will give up Battier as well.

Maybe Miller or Jones

Guys Ray Allen is not going to sign for anything less
than $5 mil per year. This Miami talk isn't even worth
discussion without a higher offer than $3. Clippers, Bulls,
Magic and others all are prepared to offer $5 million for
Ray.
he will NOT be a Celtic.
Ray is too proud (rightfully so) to come off the bench.
agree, he is a better fit for the clippers and will make better money
if he signs with miami he can only start if wade is moving to pg duties and while he can give you minutes there he cannot play it full time now that the league is a stacked pg league

Hoopsworld is a joke. Can't take anything they write seriously.

Too many incorrect reports.

I agree his attitude is beyond his talent level but that is part of what makes him as good as he is.  He has never seen a big shot he is afraid of.

That may be true, but then we have attitude problems at both of our starting guard positions.

Assuming of course Chalmers starts at the 2

I don't think coming off the bench bothers Ray.

However, I do think the constant trade discussions bother him.

If Ray Allen leaves, I think it'll have more to do with stability for himself and his family than whether or not he is given a starting position.

Except Battier, Chalmers, Haslem, and Miller (actually Bosh too) were wide open all series against the Celtics, because Lebron, and to a lesser extent Wade force defenses to help and collapse. This was without the help of screens. And Battier & Miller will killing the C's from downtown and it still happened.

Assuming he goes to MIE: I think Ray will get plenty of open looks where he doesn't have to run so much or shoot over a defender at three point shots. I also see no reason Allen couldn't start. Between Wade and Lebron they have plenty of ball handling skills.

Where are all the minutes for Ray going to come from?  Wade, Lebron, Ray, Battier, Miller, James Jones...

There is way too much repetition here.  They only have a total of 3 PF/C currently signed. (plus Lebron and a Turiaf player option)  They need a big somehow and can't waste their only chunk of spending money on another wing.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Its funny, if Ray Allen wants 5 million or more a year, Miami has legitimately no way of getting their hands on him without giving up Battier or Chalmers, neither of which you have to think they're willing to give up.

Did you forget all the easy wide open looks that mike miller got all through the playoffs???  With LJ and Wade taking the ball to the hoop so much it completely opens up the 3 ball.  RA won't have to work as hard for his shot if he is on the heat.

I mean I don't want Ray to go to the heat either, but saying he would have a hard time in their system is just silly.  He would thrive in it.  Spot up wide open 3's all day.

Crazier things have happened. Ray will have to take a substantial salary cut to go to Miami. And where is he going to get minutes? He def won't be starting. Minutes are scarce behind Dwyane Wade.
