http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB767D5FCB08E26C0&feature=plcpOk , not that these guys know everything, but these reviews provide ultra in depth strengths and weaknesses of most of the top 1st round prospects.
Everyone loves Moultrie and think he won't last until 21-22? Watch his review and weaknessess part of the video and see if you really want him now.
Sullinger as we all know is not very athletic/Quick. And his video's weaknesses section not only portrays this (getting blocked numerous times) but also how it will affect his defense (getting blown by , late to help defend, late on the rotation). Just imagine him trying to these things constantly on a Doc Rivers system. It maybe unbearable to watch
Everyone has weaknesses and these reviews are great at exposing them, but the worse kinds are the players who have bad character, don't care attitude, don't help out, don't play hard, get upset if they don't get passes (moultrie), throw teammates under the bus. Some have to do with immaturity but others maybe nothing to do with that
Watching some of these DX in depth profiles, especially the ones that will be around the range where celts will pick, i'm very intrigued by:
Perry Jones III: His raw capabilities/tools + height , would easily make him the #1 pick. The dribbling, shooting, passing, quickness, length are mouth dropping. Nothing like i have seen probably since lebron before the nba. But his lack of confidence and consistency is very tragic to see at times in these clips. Its like a #1 pick + Ray Allen of game 1 and 2 of the ECF. IF P Jones is available , if i were danny, i would think long and hard to draft him. If the celts org can be patient and help build his confidence, strength and as a bonus a killer instinct , would be the #1 steal of the draft.
Moe Harkless: The way he battles down low + good attitude + good work ethic + crafty passing + mid range scoring capabilities + athleticism and speed + 6'8 and best still very young make him a potential stud future nba SF. His weaknesses revolved around getting bullied down low (remedied by strengthing up) plus lack of consistency in shooting are things with time and practice that can be shored up. If available, i would definitely choose him with one of our picks.
Jeff Taylor: Great defense + aggressive in attacking the basket + good at finishing, especially at transition + solid three point shooter. But this is where the good stops. When he tries to dribble too much he gets "stuck" in the key area, or gets blocked. He has decent handles but his short wingspan do hurt him in having the ability to dribble less + get far. Prob won't be a great rebounder either. Like a more athletic Shane Battier. I would still be satisfied with picking him. At most drafts he would be a perfect 20's pick. At this years draft, maybe you go for more potential and risk.
Royce White: After watching his DX clip, ok , i'm flat out impressed. He is like a lebron + mason hybrid player. Dribbling is lebron good, passing is better than Lebron, rebounding is like mason, posts and finishes like Mason, unfortunately for now also plays defense like Mason (not very quick), and shoots like lebron when he isn't at his best. But even with these weaknesses, he would still be a dangerous player in the league. The way he carries himself on the court, dribbles, takes care of the ball , passes, rebounds are all qualities of a nba superstar. The rumor is wrong that there is a promise that the celts draft him at 21. You can't promise nobody that late. Even David Alridge confirmed he turned down a workout for us. I think one or two of Houston, Dallas, philly (with iguadala rumors) and minny (hometown) will lock him up if avail. I'm enormed with his capabilities (esp passing skills when rondo is sitting) + he would help with our rebounding quite a bit that, if i were danny , i might trade both of our picks , so that we could lock him up.
There is no review of Nicholson , but he has similar swagger to his game that white has. And he can back it up. Plus i haven't heard anything alarming about his character. Weaknesses just has to strengthen up and also be willing to pass a little more.
My ranking
Looks like we will have to trade up
1. White
Not worth trading up. Just wait to fall onto our laps
2. Nicholson
3. Harkless
4. Perry
5. Taylor
Stay away in no particular order
Moultrie
T Jones
