  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
As I continually check my calendar for June 28th, I thought I would make my own mock draft!

#1: Anthony Davis - Does this need to be explained?  The only franchise-changing player in the draft.

#2: Andre Drummond - Charlotte already has guards and forwards, so Drummond would fit.  He may be risky, but the Cats missed out on Davis, so what do they have to lose?

#3: Bradley Beal - Washington's trade with NO leaves them needing a legit shooting guard.  Beal is slightly undersized, but his excellent shooting should complement Wall.

#4: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - The Cavs need help on the wing.  I'm sure they would welcome the energy of MKG.

#5: Thomas Robinson - Robinson would fit nicely with Cousins in Sacramento.

#6: Perry Jones III - Portland can use this guy as Batum's backup or as the starting 4 next to Aldridge at the 5.

#7: Harrison Barnes - This would be a steal for GS, who are desperate for a 3.

#8: Jeremy Lamb - A smooth, offensive player who would create an incredibly long wing for Toronto with Derozan.

#9: John Henson - Greg Monroe sings to the heavens.  These two would be a formidable frontline for the Pistons.

#10: Meyers Leonard - Davis is not a center, which NO needs.  Leonard and the Brow would be a raw, defensive pairing that could be very good in two or three years.

#11: Damian Lillard - Portland comes out of this draft with Jones III and A scorer in Lillard to lead the team.  Very solid.

#12: Tyler Zeller - Milwaukee needs a big man.  Zeller and Udoh is a very solid frontline.

#13: Dion Waiters - I think Phoenix gave Waiters a promise, plus they need a guard with NAsh on his way out.

#14: Terrence Ross - Houston wants a 2 who can replace Kevin Martin.  Ross fits that bill.

#15: Austin Rivers - Jodie Meeks is not Philly's future at the 2.  With Rivers starting there, and Iggy likely on his way out, Evan Turner can move to the 3 with Thaddeus Young returning in his backup role.

#16: Arnett Moultrie - Houston has picked up a guard, and Moultrie will help with their need for size.

#17: Terrence Jones - Dallas needs to find a replacement for Marion and Nowitzki.  Jones is the definition of a tweener.  He'll fit nicely here.

#18: Kendall Marshall - Rubio is currently out, and Luke Ridnour is not the answer.  With Marshall, you get a great floor general without a jumper.  Kahn will be dreaming that he turns into Rondo.

#19: Jared Sullinger - Look, Dwight is leaving.  Sully will be the Magic's future, red flags and all.

#20: Tony Wroten - Andre Miller is on his way out, which leaves Denver without a backup for Ty Lawson.  Wroten isn't your typical point guard, but he likes to run, just like the rest of the Nuggets.

#21: Andrew Nicholson - We need a big guy.  Nicholson, is a polished 4 who can play alongside KG.  I expect Nicholson and 3J to compete for the starting spot.

#22: Doron Lamb - Ray is probably leaving, so a 2 is needed.  Lamb has a sweet shot, and can defend.  A nice backup for Bradley.

#23: Royce White - The Hawks could use a big man to play behind Smith.  White can post and is a great ball-handler.

#24: Will Barton: Barton and Kidd-Gilchrist running with Irving.  Cleveland looks good, huh LeBron?

#25: Evan Fournier - Tony Allen and OJ MAyo are in the Grizzlies' future at the 2.  They can stash Fournier for a few years and then bring him over.

#26: Marquis Teague - Darren Collison and George Hill are nice point guards, but when you get a chance to draft a kid from your city you gotta do it, right?  I mean, the last one did okay... *cough* Derrick Rose *cough*

#27: Moe Harkless - LeBron hasn't had a solid backup his whole career.  Harkless is very raw and can give Miami production while James sits.

#28: Quincy Miller - He will do the same for Durant that Harkless will do for James.

#29: Jeffrey Taylor - A good defender and shooter to complement Rose.  Thibs will love this guy.

#30: Fab Melo - The Warriors could use a few guys who play defense.  Melo should help in that department.

Hope you all enjoy this mock!

Cool stuff. I disagree with Drummond going number two tho. Good job, good effort  ;)

If Perry Jones gets drafted at 6 by Portland, their GM will need to find a new job by the end of the night.

Overall, nicely done!!  Just a few quibbles:  Rivers will NOT drop that far; Charlotte will trade down if they intend to take Drummond, as he will likely be there at #5 or later; and there is a better chance of Jones III dropping to us than there is of him going #6.  Portland will take Lillard at 6 and then take a big at 11 if they keep that pick at all.

Perry Jones at #6 is way too high.

Also, Waiters and Rivers will go higher.
Doron Lamb is a second round pick, why waste #22 on him?

  • I drink and I know things
There's no way that Harkless drops to 27.  None.  He's more likely to go between 5 and 8 then past 22-23 in my opinion.

That said, thanks for your mock - overall very respectable.

I admire your work on the mock, TP!

You have inspired me to post a super mock-mock draft in which I will attempt the impossible! I will include the draft day trades as well.

#1: Anthony Davis - Done, done, and done.

#2: Bradley Beal - Cleveland thru Charlotte for the 4th & 24th picks. - Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert states that the Cavs will win 2 NBA titles before LBJ wins 2.

#3: Harrison Barnes - Washington - The Bullets need a shooter. With Beal off the board, Barnes gets the nod.

#4: Thomas Robinson - Charlotte - The Cats get their man and the 24th pick for their troubles. In a related note, Michael Jordan immediately questions Robinson's manhood and tells the press that he will dunk over him during the team's first practice.

#5: MKG - Orlando thru Chicago thru Sac - The Magic get MKG & Noah in return for D12. Sac get's Deng for #5.

#6: Damian Lillard - Portland - Raymond Felton's aire apparent

#7: Drummond - Phili thru GS - The Sixers net the next Dwight Howard DeSagana Diop for Iguodala.

#8: Lamb - Phoenix thru Toronto - The Suns love them a SG.

#9: Meyers Leonard - Detroit - Leonard's Ying to Monroe's Yang.

#10: Tyler Zeller - New Orleans Mardi Gras - At the draft, instead of a NO's hat, David Stern puts some Mardi Gras beads around Zeller's neck. Zeller looks both confused and frightened.

#11: Austin Rivers - Portland - Because you can never have too many SGs.

#12: John Henson - Milwaukee - Nor can you have too many PFs.

#13: Kendall Marshall - Toronto - The Raptors continue their life long search to find Damon Stoudamire 2.0.

#14: Perry Jones - Lakers thru Houston - The Rockets finally get Gasol from the Lakers in return for Lowry, Scola, and a couple of picks. The Lakers hope Kobe's influence can help Jones find his inner Odom. Side note, the Lakers hire Kim Kardashian as a PR spokes... uhm... person.

*****
Skipping post lottery picks except for the Cs.
*****

#18: Royce White - Boston thru Minn - The Cs trade #21 and the draft rights to Ben Pepper to the Wolves for #18 / Antoine Walker 2.0.

#28: Evan Fournier - Boston thru OKC - The Cs trade back a few spots to draft the French Ray Allen and pick up the draft rights Andrey Vorontsevich.

#51: Furkan Aldemir - Boston - The Cs drafts the Turkish Alaa Abdelnaby and stashes him overseas.

TP for all your work on the post!

Re: the Celts' picks:

I have liked Nicholson for awhile and wouldn't mind him as one of our picks, depending on who slides.

However any pick at 21/22 of DLamb or JJenkins or any 2 guard not named Ross, Beal (never happen and think he is overvalued in the top 5 by all), Rivers, Waiters or JLamb is a waste to me.

There are numerous 2 guards who are almost as good shooters and are far less one dimensional than DLamb or JJenkins:

Khris Middleton, Barton, Cunningham, Darius Johnson-Odom, Kevin Murphy, Hollis Thompson, Kim English, Denmon, Buford and Ramone Moore: take your pick either as a 2nd round choice or undrafted camp invitee.
