I think if Danny does decide to blow it up this summer, a Pierce to GS trade does make some sense.

But man, that is career suicide if he is getting back Drummond.  He better be darn sure that he won't be a bust, because you can't trade a guy like Pierce for a guy who could be out of the league in 5 years.

pp will be out of the league in like 3 years....

I think he was referring to Drummond

Why would GS do this?

You would trade Pierce for Drummond?  He has "potential", but he was pretty awful at UCONN.  A first ballot hall-of-famer, finals MVP, face of the franchise and captain of the team for a bad college player?

an 18 year old 6'11" 275 pound, 7'6" wingspan.  7.5% body fat and a 33.5" vertical?

or a 34 year old with 14 years of wear?  He is a MUCH better player today, but what about in 2 years?  Its about knowing when to bite the bullett and go with the youth movement.  If Danny can still get a top 7 pick for him, maybe its time.

Have looked a little into Drummond.  He's a physical freak of nature.  Huge, crazy wingspan...absolutely ripped... quick and explosive... only 18 years old.  Listened to a significant portion of a podcast between Bill Simmons and Chad Ford that they dedicated to talking about Drummond.  Ford admitted that Drummond could possibly be a bust, but also admitted he had the most upside.  For what it's worth, he said that his take-away from watching Drummond work out was about equal to what he thought when he first watched Dwight Howard work out.  In other words... physical freak, but raw and unfocused (he shared an anecdote about how when he first watched Dwight, the kid was all smiles and kept wanting to show off his 3 point range... it was alarming) ... That's not to say Drummond will be Dwight.  Seems a lot of folk think he's going to be a bigger version of Amare Stoudamire.  Sounds good to me.  The one thing thing that does sound super encouraging about his game is that he seems to have excellent timing on blocks.  And of course he could end up a bust, but most "big men" busts weren't athletic freaks of nature like Drummond, were they? (Actual question... not being snarky.  I remember Eddy Curry being big, but I seem to remember he wasn't nearly the athlete that Drummond appears to be)

Ideal scenario:  Somehow getting Drummond to pair with Rondo.  Drummond is quick, explosive and an absolute beast... having watched the Shaq/Rondo connection for a half-season... I can only imagine what Rondo would do with a physical freak of nature like Drummond.  You don't need post moves when you're running the fast break and getting alley oops from a pass-first allstar like Rondo.  Dunks for days, bros...

Second part of the ideal scenario:  Somehow convincing Kevin Garnett to come back... which we presumably would be able to do if we're not taking back extra salary in the trade (Pierce makes 16.7 mil as-is... and trading him wouldn't force us to "renounce" any of our free agents bird rights... so I see no issue with bringing back Kevin if Kevin will come back).  I've been waiting 5 years for us to find a raw big man with actual upside, because I think Kevin could use a padawan in a big way.  I realize he's had some scrubs to teach in the past like Patrick O'Bryant... I'm talking about a kid under 20 with actual physical gifts and potential.   I absolutely do not believe that Rondo would have become the gem he is today had he not landed in the perfect environment.  He had tons of mentors to learn from... Danny, Doc, Sam Cassell, KG, Pierce, Ray.  Rondo always had the physical gifts, but needed the mentors.  It was like giving a super-serum to a perfect candidate.

Drummond is a major long-shot.  Probably impossible without moving Rondo (which would probably defeat the purpose entirely unless we're also getting back Steph Curry).  I actually don't believe Pierce would accept a trade elsewhere... he'd probably block it from happening.  He kept hinting at retirement this season... I'm still operating under the theory that Pierce would rather retire than start over in a crap situation like Golden State.

lets do it, then waive biedrins... :D

and while we are at it, lets throw in rondo to the nuggets for lawson, w. chandler and birdman. ;D

then re-sign KG and green

then sign camby, mayo

look at we have then...
PG - lawson/moore
SG - bradley/mayo
SF - chandler, wright
PF - KG/green/jjj
C  - camby/birdman

plus we have picks 7, 21 and 22...

we might actually have a very good team...

Birdman has his legal issues, so no one would touch him. It is never a good idea to trade an all pro player for mediocrity.  All Rondo needs is two athletic types to play alongside him (e.g Green, maybe Drummond)

I have yet to see a draft mock having Andre Drummond going past Portland at 6th pick.

I think for Boston to be able to pick Andre Drummond they need to get Sacramento's 5th pick.
and they could use a real SF like PP.

I could imagine Danny atleast try a trade like this:
Boston Celtics:Poul Pierce, 2 round picks
Sarcamento Kings John Salmons, 1 round pick

I would be sad to see pp leave, but a starting line up like this would make it easyer for me :D:
Pg: Rondo
Sg: Bradley
Sf: Jeff Green
pf: KG or another free agent
center: Andre Drummond

The Kings will only trade if they don't* get Drummond (or a big*) from the looks of it.

They're going to pair DeMarcus Cousins with another star big.

Drummond's stock is falling like a rock. According to Sam Amico on Twitter, he having bad workout after bad workout.Plus Thomas Robinson had his way with him during the Cavs workout.

He may be falling into the mid-teens.

P.S. Okafor had his way with D12 during pre-draft workouts to.

I'm pretty sure that if Pierce gets traded he will retire. I think that's what killed the Pierce to NJ trade a few months back.

I think it depends where he'd get traded too, he'd have to agree to it for his agent not to kill it at either an ownership level or with a retirement threat.
