Would it be worth considering going after him with Pierce?

Salaries for Biedrins and Dorrell Wright match up.  They have two really good young guards and they have veterans up front in Bogut and Lee.  They really dont need to draft Drummond.  Richard Jefferson isnt their answer at the 3.  Pierce could at least make them playoff ready and if KG or Ray followed, who knows maybe they could be top 4 or 5 in the West.

Boston gets a young big to pair with Rondo and start the rebuild process from the ground up.  Give them the 21 and 22 picks for the 30 and 35.  They can add two bench players to fill out their rotation while Danny can still find potential rotation players at 30 and 35 (Draymond Green?)

I think if Danny does decide to blow it up this summer, a Pierce to GS trade does make some sense.

But man, that is career suicide if he is getting back Drummond.  He better be darn sure that he won't be a bust, because you can't trade a guy like Pierce for a guy who could be out of the league in 5 years.

I wouldnt do it for just any player.  You could make a case for any of the top 6 players being worth it.  Would a guard like Lamb, Lillard, or Rivers be worth it?  I doubt it.  What about a 7 footer like Leonard or Zeller?  they are safer picks maybe than Drummond, but there must be a reason he is projected higher.

If Boston is not going to keep KG and go after one more playoff run, then trade Paul out west to a team that has at least a fighting chance and get back the best young piece you can.

I've been trying to decipher Drummond's worth for a while now. He's as fast and athletic and a guard, but mentally, I don't think he's fully invested yet. I hope he doesn't fall out of the league like Thabeet.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

Sigh.

Yet another Pierce deal that would enrage me.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

What kind of cap situation would you have with this:

PG: Rondo
SG: Bradley
SF: Jeff Green
PF: Bass
C: Biedrins

Bench:

C Drummond pick #7
C Stiemsma
PF Jujuan Johnson
F Draymond Green pick #30
G/F Dorrell Wright
G Tony Wroten pick #35

Is ther room left to add one really good free agent to this starting lineup to make it worth doing?

Putting taller SFs like Wright, J. Green, and D. Green as well athletic big like Drummond, Biedrins, and Bass makes sense.  Rondo needs guys that can run the floor and also finish at the rim.

Not sure about the cap situation, but we would have a pretty terrible team.

I am basing this on the hope that Danny could sign OJ Mayo at least (would love to throw a max contract at Eric Gordon and hope they dont match).

Also the whole thing hinges on Drummond potentially being closer to Dwight Howard than Hasheem Thabeet.

Are you saying that Andris "should have been amnestied instead of Charlie Bell" Biedrins can't fill KG's shoes?

For how many years are you paying how much to have Bass as your starting PF?

You would trade Pierce for Drummond?  He has "potential", but he was pretty awful at UCONN.  A first ballot hall-of-famer, finals MVP, face of the franchise and captain of the team for a bad college player?

Biedrins is not a player/contract I'd be excited to take on. Drummond would be a pretty exciting prospect to get, though.

an 18 year old 6'11" 275 pound, 7'6" wingspan.  7.5% body fat and a 33.5" vertical?

or a 34 year old with 14 years of wear?  He is a MUCH better player today, but what about in 2 years?  Its about knowing when to bite the bullett and go with the youth movement.  If Danny can still get a top 7 pick for him, maybe its time.
