"The Lakers are committed to moving Pau Gasol — the fall guy for their second-round ouster against the Thunder and previous playoff failures — even if they have to take back less talent"

How about this:

Gasol => Sacramento
#21, #22, Bass, Tyreke Evans => LAL
Chuck Hayes, #5 pick (Barnes or Drummond) => Boston

Lakers unload Gasol to a non-contender, gets 2 picks in a draft they currently have zero, gets Bass to play PF, and adds Tyreke Evans.

Sacramento uses some of its cap room and gets a front line of Gasol + Cousins, and unloads the Hayes contract (which is useless to them other than making the salary floor).

Boston gets a role player who actually is worth the money on a contender (Hayes, who is a terrific defender and decent rebounder). He might still be a little overpaid, but could be really useful to us. We also turn our 2 picks into #5, which could be Barnes, Drummond, etc.

Too good of a deal for us.

If Kings were interested in Gasol, LA would just cut us off and they would take 5th pick and Evans.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Really good idea. Instead, though, we should send either #21 or #22 to Sac town instead of giving it to LA. Gasol's value is down and is not worth Tyreke + #5 imo.

Maybe even give both our picks to Sac? Bass + Tyreke is more or less the value of an aging Gasol.
I like Marcus Smart

Lakers have made it clear that they want back into the 1st round (they had two picks before the trades for Sessions and Hill).

Looks like Gasol is their ticket into the lottery.

Golden St (#s 7 and 30) and Sac (#5) seem like the only teams that Gasol could help make playoff releveant. Sucks for us. :( :( :(

It'll be interesting to see what they get for him.

It'll be interesting to see what they get for him.

They were spreading rumors that they could get Rondo for him to boost his value a few months ago, and now they are desperate to dump him. Broussard is a tool.

They got him for nothing, only fair they give him away for nothing ::)

EDIT: Guess Marc Gasol has turned out OK so not quite nothing!
