Landry is not undersized.  He is consistently listed at 6'9".

He measured 6'7.75" in bare feet at the draft combine.

For comparison, Millsap (a much more productive player) was 6'6.25"  same as Brandon Bass.

Landry has a 6'11" wingspan.  That is not great, but it is pretty good.  Millsap has a 7'1.5" wingspan, which is great considering his height and he has a 3" higher standing reach than Landry.  Bass has a 1" longer wingspan and a 1" higher standing reach than Millsap.

I think Landry for the money would be a steal.  He isnt as good on offense as Bass, but I think he would help more on defense and rebounding. Bass had a career year with 12.5 pts and 6.2 rebs. He was 11.2 and 5.6 with orlando a year before and had a career high .515 FG% (down to .479 with BOS)

Landry is a career .535 shooter.  Landry avereaged a rebound every 4.7 mins last year while Bass was every 5.2.  I know Landry was on a bad team in both NO and SAC, but I think he will cost way less than Bass.

Jason Kidd has said he's looking for a 1 yr deal and prefers to be the backup to a good point guard. Would be a great guy to backup Rondo for 15-18 mpg and finally not worry about having a player effectively run the offense with Rondo out. For the right price, why not?

If there is one team I can almost garauntee Kidd will not play for, it's Boston.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
More realistic:  Brandon Rush and Ian Mahinmi.

On board with Rush over there. Binky!

another thing to consider is the $$.

I believe the numbers work where the Cs have 26 mill free cap space.

KG what will he want? 2 years 10million?

that leaves 16 mill

Jeff Green was offered 9mill. now does he take 1 year 7 mill

that leaves 9 million

Steimsma I have seen 1-2 mill mentioned. 2 yr 1.5 mill

So with 7.5 million left to spend we would have the following roster.

C  KG, Steimsma
PF JJJ
SF Pierce, J Green
SG AB, Moore
PG RR

and 3 rookies

I still think the bring them all back plan is going to be the best. Cs go over the cap to retain players

C  KG,Steimsma, Wilcox
PF Bass, JJJ (maybe sign and trade Bass for another PF)
SF Pierce, J Green, Daniels
SG AB, Ray,Pietrus, Moore
PG RR, Dooling

+ 3 rookies

one big think I see happening is Bass being S&T or just left to walk and wilcox then takes his spot.

We don't know how much KG will demand to resign but what if DA makes his pitch like this....

"KG, we love you.  We want you back and we want to win a championship next year rather than go with a youth movement.  We could pay $12 mil and bring back essentially the same team as last year (ie. Bass / Pietrus / Steimer) plus some rookies and Jeff Green...OR...we could pay you $8 mil and bring in this...

Jason Terry $15 mil for two years (7.5 avg)
Omer Asik $20 mil over three years (6.5 avg)
Jeff Green $6 mil one year w/ club option
Landry $5 mil per for however long they mutually agree.

...plus two draft picks.  That would be major upgrade over Brandon Bass, Steimer, and Pietrus w/ the bad knee.

Also, people are sleeping on Asik...he is very talented and could be a top 10 NBA center within two years.

Surprised no one has mentioned Jamal Crawford. He's probably looking at MLE type money, something we have the cap room to offer, and would seemingly be a great fit for our team. He can be part of a 3 guard rotation with Rondo and Bradley, and gives us something Ray simply doesn't have anymore; the ability to create for himself. Ainge has also said that he thinks Bradley can flourish playing alongside another combo guard, and what better than a combo guard with size that can create his own shot? This is the type of signing, along with Jeff Green, that can finally give us some serious scoring from our bench.

I think he'd get over it to play with this team and behind rondo.  Also would be first good backup rondo has ever had as a pro.  Before anyone says delonte, man was injured in round 2 and first time here he was not that good.

I think some people are overestimating the cap space. The cap will be approximately 58M (we are not talking the luxury cap but the regular cap). If you take into account PP, Rondo, Steimsma, Bass (unless he opts out) and the two draft pics and possibly Moore you will be less than 19M. That amount will go quickly and then you only sign the special cases that take you above the regular cap.

let ray walk get mayo and hibbert sign kg to a cheap deal draft smart and we have a great off season.

Dream on about Hibbert.  He's a restricted FA and the Pacers have cap room so they will match any offer.  THis is about the 20th time it's been mentioned.  Larry Bird has more of a chance of playing for Boston this year than Hibbert does.
Yeah, I doubt The C's could get Hibbert but they should make an offer none the less.

Lets sign Dominic McGuire.

He did have a nice year this past season.
